Review–LUSH BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask

Hello again!

On the heels of my last LUSH review comes one for the BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask! I have to admit that I was not planning on picking up a face mask during my shopping spree, but the fact that the face masks were right next to the register must have had something to do with this last minute purchase!

This mask was recommended to me by the sales associate who was helping me since my skin type didn’t seem to match up with any of the masks they had available at the time. Every mask seemed to be for teenage skin. I guess with prom being so close, that was the target demographic! The BB Seaweed Mask has little bits of almond shell for light exfoliation, seaweed and rose oil that work together to balance out oily and dry skin patches as well as even out skin tone. If you have sensitive skin, this mask is supposed to exfoliate without causing irritation.

Just for fun, there are two types of seaweeds in this mask: Fucus gardneri  and Fucus vesiculosus. Both are chock full proteins, essential amino acids, iodine, potassium, calcium and vitamins A-E! Although, you’d reap more benefits from seaweed by eating it, I guess it’s sort of nice to let your face be exposed to it too!

Packaging: As before, I love things in pots for better scoopage!

Formula: Chunky. The mask is not easy to apply because there are large bits of seaweed that sometimes refuse to stick to your face and instead get stuck on your hands. It does start drying quite quickly so I found that I couldn’t really touch an area twice because if I started rubbing in more of the mask, the existing layer of mask would just fall off in bits. Eventually, I found that it was best to just lay the mask on very thickly which seemed to make it easier to apply.

Scent: Very earthy and natural.

Final Verdict: This mask did make my skin feel soft and supple after use so it does work, but I really didn’t like the consistency. I like my masks to be more homogenous in texture so maybe if the seaweed was in smaller bits I would gravitate more towards it. I wasn’t a huge fan of the smell either as the more earthy scents have never really appealed to me. Unfortunately, once I finish this mask up, I will not be re-purchasing because I feel like there might be another mask with a better consistency and scent that will make my skin feel just as soft.

    2. I will have to grab Brazened Honey and let you know how I like it. I have well over 5 pots to exchange, but I don't have a LUSH locally. It is around a 30-45 minute drive away, but when I need more Ocean Salt I will go (I'm getting low). Plus I need more Rub Rub Rub! I am trying to cut down on my spending this month though (and failing).

    1. LOL, the large seaweed bits really were quite annoying. It's a shame because the mask does work!
