September Luvs

This post should have been up earlier, but when someone in the house gets the stomach flu, all resources get pooled for recovery purposes! Well, it’s now officially Fall and I am actually getting more and more excited for the colder days, new holiday collections and of course new favourite products!

Bath and Body

Cake Lemon Chiffon Velveteen Hand Creme – I’m sure I don’t need to explain why I love this hand creme as you can imagine how absolutely amazing it smells and how wonderfully soft it makes your hands. I keep this right by my computer as it is non-greasy and doesn’t make me feel like I’m greasing up my keyboard like some sort of barnyard hog!

L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil – I wish I can convey just how good this smells and softly it scents my skin after a shower. It’s also a great shaving oil for my legs! The other thing I love about this shower oil is that L’Occitane sells refills for these half litre bottles so no waste!

L’Occitane Firming and Smoothing Milk Concentrate – This has the same scent as the Almond Shower Oil and is a lightweight body moisturizer with more of a gel consistency. I haven’t really noticed any “firming” or “smoothing” effects, but I think that’s might be because I’m not at that stage in my life yet!

Makeup

Urban Decay Lip Junkie in Naked (Mini) - Most of you know that this comes with the Naked 2 palette and I definitely didn’t buy the palette for the lip gloss, so I was quite surprised when I tried this colour on and realized what a great colour it was! I did not know that it was one of those minty lip plumper glosses so I was greeted with a tingly feeling on my lips that went away within a few minutes. I have been layering this lip gloss over top other lipsticks and I have really liked the end results!

Tarte Vitamin Infused Lip Gloss –I received this lip gloss in the Tarte Value pack I purchased from Sephora back in July and didn’t start using it until well…last month. At first I was scared at how pink it was, but it leaves my lips with a watery, light pink finish that has actually gotten a few compliments. The consistency is also quite smooth and non-sticky.

Burt’s Bees Refreshing Grapefruit Lip Balm – I just love the smell of grapefruit (but, not the real fruit oddly enough) and even though I was hoping this would be sort of minty like the classic Burt’s Bees peppermint lip balm, I still use this all the time when I’m at home.

Everyday Minerals Foundation in Golden Medium – I’m actually a much bigger fan of mineral foundations than liquid ones mainly because they seem less messy to me and I enjoy the lighter coverage. After trying a sample of this foundation back in March, I was amazed at the coverage it provided for something that felt so weightless. The little sample package lasted just under 2 weeks for me, so the full size will be keep me in business for a while!

Hair

Redken All Soft Argan 6 OilAfter receiving a sample of this in June’s Topbox, I became a convert as it made my hair feel so soft after applying it to the ends of my hair after showering. I apply it from the middle downward to the ends of my hair so that my hair doesn’t look lifeless at the top.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Sheer Solution Lightweight Frizz Control – I received this in July’s Glossybox and decided to give it a chance last month. So glad I did! This has been great for flyaway days and doesn’t weigh my hair down at all! All I need is just a few drops and I’m good to go!

I have really been enjoying reading about everyone’s favourites over the last week so I hope you all enjoy mine too! Have a great Canadian Thanksgiving!

  1. Love it when you buy something , and the part you didn't plan on using becomes a favourite (UD Lip Junkie)!
Hope the person in your house feels better soon, there must be something going around!

    1. UD Lip Junkie was definitely a pleasant surprise!

Yes, my fiance was sick and then may have potentially passed it on to me :(

  2. Thanks for sharing those products! After seeing it here, I think I will need to smell and check out that L'Occitane product... Might be part of my birthday gift to myself, hahaha. I have to go Sephora anyway to take advantage of the birthday promotion ;)

I ended up loving my John Frieda sample too from the Glossybox. I keep trying to think of a way to incorporate it in a post because I don't feel like doing a full review on it but I do believe it merrits a mention somehow.

    1. L'Occitane products have quickly become favourites of mine! Almost everything I have tried I have loved! It's just unfortunate that their stuff is on the pricier side :(

I felt the same about the serum, I didn't want to do a whole post on it, so I think having it in my favourites is a worthy way of honoring what a great product it is!

    1. I almost think you should see if you can get a sample of it, because the full size is quite a lot of product and if you don't like it, it will take a really long time to go through!

  5. Happy Thanksgiving, Jayne!

I keep one of those Cake hand creams beside my computer at work :) And I used to use that Every Minerals foundation for years (same shade!) but I switched over to Laura Mercier mineral powder and I actually like it much better.

    1. Happy Thanksgiving Alison!!!

I remember you saying that you always had a Velveteen hand creme on hand and that you also used to use EM! I'll have to look/try the LM mineral powder one day at Sephora. What did you like about it more than the EM one! Haha, we are both Golden Medium! Yay! Foundation twins!

I just love the scent of the Burts Bees chap stick as well.. I got a bath and body works shower gel and it smells too much like the "real" grapefruit.. which is weird..haha

Isn't it weird that if it smells "too real" it's not good anymore??

  9. Haven't tried a lot of these products but they look so good! The one I have used is the L'Occitane Smoothing Milk Concentrate and I agree that I didn't notice any smoothing/firming effects haha! Love the consistency of it though :)

    1. Me too! I loved how it felt, but it's pretty expensive so that's my only reason for not really wanting to buy it again!

  10. Boo I caught the sick too this weekend. I went to Sephora, picked up the cake hand cream, put it back thinking I'll wait a little bit. Go back a few weeks later and it was gone. I was so sad :-(
Happy Thanksgiving, hope you didn't get the flu!

    1. Wait until Cake has their 40% off sale and then get the hand creme (amongst other things!)

I think I just narrowly avoided getting sick, but I had one really bad night where I thought I totally had the stomach bug and then it cleared up by the next day.
