November 2012 Ipsy Bag

What?! Yet another beauty bag to add to the midst?! That’s right, if you’re a Michelle Phan fan like me, you have probably been tracking when this bag was going to be released in Canada. When it was finally announced at the beginning of November that us Canadians would finally have access, I hesitated at first because I needed to assess how crazy I was for subbing to a sixth beauty service, but it was Margo from Citygirl who gave me the final push ;-) Let’s have a look inside shall we?

Nailtini Nail Lacquer in Millionaire

DSCF4267

Thoughts: I really hate hairy glitter, but nail polish always excites me no matter what! I think I’m going to have to give this away though because I don’t think I’d wear it very often.

Full size: $13.00 USD

I received: *FULL SIZE*

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Eyeshadow in Matt Batali

Thoughts: I love theBalm and I’ve been so curious about the Matt(e) palette, so I thought this sample was so cute! I love the whole concept of the Matt(e) palette and looking at handsome men while I apply my eye shadow ;-)

Full size: $34.50 USD

I received: 1 eye shadow $3.83 although I don’t really know how accurate this is…

Eclos Anti-Aging Cellular Activator Face Serum

DSCF4273

Thoughts: I had never heard of this brand, but then when I Googled it, I discovered that it’s under the umbrella of Freeman which some of you may know from face and foot masks. I don’t know how effective plant stem cells when used topically on my skin, but a serum is always welcome in my daily skin routine as I use a serum every day and tend to go through them quickly.

Full size: 50mL/$24.99 USD

I received: 15mL/$7.50

Starlet Cosmetics Intense Eyeliner in Black

DSCF4276

Thoughts: I wasn’t too impressed with this eye liner as I I feel like either my Urban Decay 24/7 liner or Milani Liquif’Eye trumps this one.

Full size: $11.00 USD

I received: *FULL SIZE*

Benefit They’re Real Mascara

DSCF4274

Thoughts: They are just handing this sample out like candy right now! This is my third sample of this, I’ve already given one away and I think I’m going to have to do the same with this one! I should let some other lucky gal enjoy gorgeous lashes!

Full size: 8.5g/$23.00 USD

I received: 3.0g/$8.11

Pink Makeup Brush Holder with Eyeshadow Brush

This was a bonus gift which I thought was actually kind of cheap-looking…the eye shadow brush wasn’t that soft and I wouldn’t even think to trade it for any of the eye makeup brushes I am using now.

Total Value of Ipsy Bag: $43.44

I’m actually pretty happy overall with my first Ipsy Bag even though my enthusiasm for each product individually may be lacking! The nail polish colour is a cool colour, just not for me and if I hadn’t received a Benefit mascara already, I’d probably be over the moon with the one in this bag. My favourite product would have to be the Matt Batali eye shadow sample as it’s something I’ve been wanting to try. Looking forward to December’s Ipsy Bag!

  3. It looks like a good month for Ipsy. TheBalm Matte eyeshadows are great. I almost signed up but I couldn't bring myself to sign up for another box. Maybe if I drop a current sub I might try an Ipsy bag. How much was it for Canadians?

  7. Wow, I only got a tiny little jar of the Eclos! I hate the eyeliner though, very unhappy with it. It was still a great box though, I'm excited for the next one!

    2. I'm super excited for the December box though. The sneak peeks look great so far! The eyeliner did nothing for me, I got the brown one and it barely even left any color!

  9. I've wanted to sub to them for some time but I always hear mixed reviews and I don't like being disappointed.
It's really nice that you give away your extras, I think I'd hoard them all.. LOL. (Especially if it was UD Supercurl, haha!)

    1. I think I have that mascara as a sample...I should try it!
I know, that's the risk with these boxes, you will be disappointed sometimes...you pay for the element of surprise.

    1. The pigmentation of their shadows is really bold and the consistency is very soft. Definitely worth a try in this lifetime!
