Review–Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Posy Pink

I don’t know why I haven’t tried a Smashbox product until now when it has been around since I was a teenager! There have been some iconic products produced by this company (sold to Estee Lauder in 2010) the most notable being the Photo Finish Foundation Primer that I’ve been hearing about for the last 10 years!

In my November Luvs, I raved about the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in “Posy Pink” as one of my new favourite lipsticks after a makeover event at Shoppers Drug Mart and decided that this lipstick actually deserved a review. I don’t do reviews very often and have made a blood blog vow to do more in the new year. I kid, there was no blood involved, but I really do promise to do more in 2013!

Just one swipe and you’ll see this is the stuff beauty legends are made of. From modern mattes to hydrating creams, our ultra-luxe formula glides on for show-stopping, saturated colour every time.

Scent: None that I could detect.

Packaging: I loved the matte finish of the case because as much as I love shiny cases, I hate seeing my fingerprints all over them! I felt that the case was also sturdy and of high quality.

Formula: I don’t normally wear matte lipsticks which is why I fell in love with the cream finish of Posy Pink. The consistency of this lipstick feels a little bit thicker and less oily than others, but still glides across your lips. If my lips were too dry, I found that even though this lipstick had a cream finish I could still see the dry areas, so I try to use a lip scrub prior to using this lipstick unless I’m rushing out the door! In terms of wear, because the formulation is thicker, the colour does last longer on my lips at around 4 hours. I should also mention that Be Legendary lipsticks all have Vitamin C and E in them which means they have…everyone say it with me…anti-aging properties! Bonus!

Final Verdict: I am very pleased with how this lipstick has performed in terms of wear. I will admit that that the initial draw to this product was definitely the colour because for some reason I didn’t own this particular shade of pink, but as I continue to wear it, I notice how hydrating it is, how it gives my lips a bit of shine and most importantly, how long the colour lasts. Now, I want to try a matte finish!

  1. I love this colour. Smashbox has a lot of gems in their collection. I really love their lipgloss and lipstick in Pout.

    1. I think I would like to get a more intense colour later on. You're right that it is quite sheer. I think I want more of a red or purple in the future.

    1. That was totally me as well because the only product I had known of was their primer which I really didn't need at the time. If it wasn't for the makeover, I probably wouldn't have purchased anything!
