December 2012 Ipsy Bag

Time seemed to move at super speed during the holidays and although I received my Ipsy bag at some point during December, I apologize for only getting to it now. It’s funny, but I find unboxing posts take the longest to write/take pictures and such, but are the posts that are the quickest to read!

I don’t think there was too much variation in December’s Ipsy bags unless you were one of the select subscribers who received a sample of Urban Decay’s BB Cream for being a more “active Ipsy community member”. I’m not sure if that’s just limited to those in the US though…

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in ZeroDSCF4245

Thoughts: I know that I myself have two samples of this pencil already from having both Naked palettes, but honestly, I use the little nubbin I still have everyday and is still up there as one of my favourite black eye liners along with Milani Liquif’Eye. Another sample size of this pencil is more than welcome because I don’t think I will have to buy a full size of Zero in a VERY long time!

Full size: 0.04oz/$23.00

I received: 0.03oz/$17.25 (pretty much full size I think!)

Mai Couture Highlighter Papier

Thoughts: I was VERY excited to see this product in such a great size! Why we only received two of these sheets in our Glymm boxes vs. an entire booklet in December’s Ipsy bag is beyond me. Actually, I have a feeling Michelle Phan and her beauty guru YouTube crew have quite a bit of influence when it comes to product procurement! I love the idea of these highlighter papers even though they are a bit expensive considering the number of uses you would get out of one sheet.

Full size: 50 sheets/$28.00

I received: 25 sheets/$14.00

Mirabella Primer for Face and Eyes

DSCF4248

Thoughts: A full size primer! What I loved about this primer was that it’s clear which is something I’ve never seen before. It also felt quite light so I will be interested to see how well it holds eye shadow and foundation.

Full size: 12.85g/$29.00

I received: *FULL SIZE*

NYX Loose Pearl Eye shadow in Yellow Gold Pearl

Thoughts: I picked up a few of these pigments when IMATS was in Vancouver and incredibly enough, I didn’t pick up gold! These pigments are fantastic and long-lasting with primer.

Full size: 5mL/$3.00

I received: *FULL SIZE*

Be a Bombshell Lip Gloss in Hot Mess

Thoughts: Ooooh, a bright red gloss! I wasn’t a big fan of the smell, but the colour, pigmentation and consistency are quite pleasant and not too sticky. Although, lack of stickiness usually means less wear time, but that’s ok as I’m happy with everything else about it.

Full size: 3g/$14.00

I received: *FULL SIZE*

Total Value of Ipsy Bag: $77.25

I thought the December Ipsy Bag was fantastic in terms of value and products given. Good job! I am SO happy I signed up!!

  1. I love the color of that red gloss! And Urban Decay eyeliner is definitely one of my favorites... the color "Stash" is amazing!

    1. I think I will always have a UD eyeliner on me at all times! I haven't tried Stash, I should swatch the next time I'm in Sephora!

  2. The Mai Couture Papers may seem like they run out fast, but you really only need half. So I'd suggest [if you're willing to take the time] is to snip out half a piece when you want to use them. Or you could use one sheet multiple times. Using them only once would be such a waste! :)

    1. what Steph said! i only used half of one sheet too!
and i loved everything in this bag (except my NYX pigment was not a pretty gold like yours!) - i think we should be getting Januarys bag soon right? :)

    2. Oh good to know! I guess you are only using it on small areas of your face so half a sheet makes sense.
Yes, January bag is coming soon!

  3. I only use half of one sheet too! I am so excited for the January bag (and the February sneak peeks!). The gloss is so gorgeous on, it's become one of my "go tos" - I actually find that it lasts surprisingly long for a non-sticky gloss!

    1. I haven't seen any sneak pics yet! I don't know if I should...but my curiousity always gets the better of me ;-)
Ooh, ok I shall give the gloss a spin and see how it holds up!

  4. I find that these posts do take the longest to write! Do you think the "Active member" part means that you post pics/videos showing the various looks you can achieve with products in that month's bag? I notice lots of people do this on the ipsy website.

    1. I have a feeling that's exactly what it means! Maybe we should start posting our reviews!

  5. Everything looks awesome! I've contemplated signing up for this bag since it is pretty cheap and seems like a really good deal, but I always end up talking myself out of it. One day! Haha.

    1. The products are fantastic! $10 for you guys is amazing! We have to pay for shipping, but even with that cost it's still a great deal for what you get!

  6. I have to agree with Christa. Everything really does look awesome! I also see great items in the Ipsy bags...I'm a bit tempted to join this one and I'm not one who would get into a monthly subscription!

    1. Ipsy is such a great price and the products are amazing so whenever you do decide to get a sub, this is probably one of the better ones.

  7. I love this post and I hadn't heard of this bag, I actually have that Urban Decay pencil and totally agree with your review. I actually noticed that it starts to smear a bit after a couple hours. Nice post, great info!

    1. Yeah, the UD pencil doesn't last for more than 4 or 5 hours on my waterline which kind of sucks, but I love how smoothly they apply too much.

  8. I really like that you can see what products you're going to get in advance with Ipsy. Though it ruins the surprise aspect, it does [potentially] save money! x

    1. I sort of like knowing! I'm always the one the wants to know how a movie or book ends so the surprise factor isn't all that important to me. You're right that it does save you money though which is great. That's what I love about the Julep boxes too.
