Review-STEAMCREAM

Some of you know that I have this little beauty addiction and right now I am currently obsessed with STEAMCREAM which is a moisturizer that can be used on the face, hands, body and even hair! It is a sister company of LUSH and handmade in the UK and Japan with only the freshest ingredients that come in the most delightful collectable tins!

When I first heard of STEAMCREAM, the first thing I wanted to know was, why is this moisturizer called “STEAMCREAM”? The all-natural ingredients are fused together by a shot of steam creating a moisturizer with a whipped texture that is lightweight and provides hydration that lasts. The cream that is created is very “loose” and jelly-like and when applied to the skin, breaks down and nourishes the skin more effectively than other conventional moisturizers.

I love cats, so a collectible tin with cats all over it? I knew I had to have Chiyoneko! Ayame was just too beautiful to pass up as it reminded me of good china.

“Freedom&Discipline” and “Big Ben”DSC_0107

This was a duo that I picked up around the time of the London 2012 Olympics and were actually my first purchases from STEAMCREAM.

I received a bonus STEAMCREAM, but am I the only one who is scared of the clown? This is “Pierrot”

Price: £10.79/tin on the STEAMCREAM website

Scent: Mainly lavender, but there are other ingredients that are faintly detectable.

Packaging: Only the cutest tins ever! There are special limited edition tins and collaborations with artists so I always have to resist buying them all!

Formula: STEAMCREAM prides themselves on having the freshest, all-natural ingredients which is why once a tin is opened, it has a fairly short shelf-life of 6 months. I found this moisturizer to be fast-absorbing on my dry skin, but what’s great is that STEAMCREAM is suitable for ALL skin types even those with eczema and sensitive skin. I have used it on my face at night and boy is it ever hydrating!

Very similarly to LUSH, STEAMCREAM uses two parabens in their formulation: methyparaben and propylparaben as they are the oldest preservatives that have yet to be proven as definitively harmful. They are also the last two ingredients so their concentrations are not great mainly due to the fact that the ingredients are prepared freshly and there is virtually no water in STEAMCREAM. Have you ever noticed that MOST moisturizers have “Aqua” as their very first ingredient. With STEAMCREAM, it’s “Oatmeal infusion”.

Final Verdict: At first I wasn’t a fan of the lavender scent, but the longer I used it the less it bothered me and it almost became comforting. I love the collectible tins, but most importantly this is a wonderful moisturizer that is even great on the face! I have yet to try it in my hair, but I might give it a try on one of my days off! I love the idea of a moisturizer with ingredients held together by *steam* and how much thought the company has put into making a a product that is truly good for the skin. AND, I also can’t wait to add more tins to my collection!

  1. I have never heard of Steamcream before. Interesting, I like that they have almond oil, cocoa butter and glycerine in it. They must be soothing.
That clown tin would be in a drawer, in a closet on the other side the house if I had it LOL eek.
