May | 2013 Favourites

May was a bit funny for me with favourites because I was under so much stress that my lips started to completely freak out and became itchy, red and numb which meant living off Vaseline as I couldn’t wear anything else! So, while my lips were undergoing some much needed TLC, I focused on products for everywhere else instead!

1. Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Toasted

I absolutely adore this colour as it is a wonderfully shimmery neutral eye shadow that I pretty much will reach for in my sleep. This is in the original Naked Palette, but I loved it so much that I had to get it on its own (I sound a little creepy there, don’t I?)

2. Aveda Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener

I received this from a friend two Christmases ago and have only recently started using it regularly. I use a dime-sized amount after towel-drying my hair, followed by a straight blow out. What results is hair that is so straight, it’s like all of the fight has been taken out of it! It doesn’t leave my hair soft, but it removes any trace of frizz which is a huge problem for me as I have pesky baby hairs everywhere!

3. Vaseline in Pink Bubbly (Limited Edition)

I received this in a swap with fellow blogger, Jenni, from Jenni My Style and I love it! It’s only available in the UK so I will be sad when I finish this, but it is champagne-scented Vaseline! The scent is very subtle and is what my lips lived on for half of May while my body took its time to stop stress-attacking itself. Vaseline is just what I needed as my lips kept drying out and I needed something very thick that sealed in every last bit of moisture!

4. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Adored

So, firstly thank you to Aleeza of Stylish & Literate for telling us that these blushes are magnetically held in! It literally just pops out with a firm tap! It’s great to know that I can easily put these in my UNII palettes. This is my first Tarte blush and I LOVE it! I must have more! I haven’t put this blush to the test for 12 hours, but I can say that it definitely lasts for 10 hours! I tested that out last week at a post-work function and yes. It lasts!

5. Lancome Hypnose Mascara

I received this in a swap with Sian and I have been loving this mascara for the volume factor. I don’t use this mascara on casual days as it makes me look too dramatic, but this has been great for work and going out. The formula is very creamy and smooth and my lashes go from “zero to hero” when I use it. It does add some length as well, but I definitely notice the increase in volume more.

6. Marcelle Essentials 3 in 1 Cleanser

I picked this up a couple of months ago on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart for $12 and you can see how massive it is! This is a milk, toner, cleanser and all-over makeup remover and is soft and creamy. It also leaves my skin supple and moisturized. For my eyes, I have come to realize that I really enjoy the cooling sensation of a cream eye makeup remover as opposed to an oil-based remover. The only exception I make is for the glorious Bioderma Sensibio!

7. Fruits & Passion Pomelo Granite Moisturizing Body Gel

After reviewing this scent last month, I could not get enough of it and made my way over to my closest Fruits & Passion location and bought up a storm! This just smells so good that I don’t even care that it is a lighter consistency moisturizer. If you haven’t smelled this, you must! It’s a wonderful scent for summer!

8. Fruits & Passion Pomelo Granite Eau de Fruits Fragrance

I picked this up when they were just $15 each (regular price $34)! I spray this on after using the complimentary moisturizer and it is just so fruitfully delightful! The only downside is that the scent doesn’t last very long. On me, it lasts about 3 hours which isn’t very long at all. I feel like this is more of a body spray than a perfume.

9. Fruits & Passion Orange Canteloup Eau de Fruits Fragrance

I don’t normally like cantaloupe, but mixed with orange it has quickly become one of my favourites! Again, I wish the scent lasted longer!

10. skoah Shave Kream

This is a true shave cream as opposed to the foams we normally see. This is a creamy, moisturizing almond and peppermint-scented shave cream that you massage into your skin to prep it for shaving. I love the scent and how moisturizing it is for my skin. I seem to love everything skoah!

11. Zoya Remove + Nail Polish Remover

I’ve actually had this for a long time and I don’t know why I have waited so long to use it! For some reason, I was under the impression that this was an acetone-free nail polish remover and so never wanted to use it. How wrong I was! This has a pleasant scent and takes off polish without drying out the skin or cuticles. It also doesn’t smear the nail polish around on the skin like some other removers do. And I love the pump dispersal mechanism!

12. OPI Matte Nail Envy

This has been working just as well for me as the Original Nail Envy, but just has a matte finish! You can even wear it alone for a natural and healthy look.

13. Neon Pink J. Crew Cece Leather Ballet Flats

I don’t normally post about clothing, but oh my gosh do I love these new flats! The colour is absolutely blinding and they are so comfortable! They are made in Italy which adds some luxe to such a casual pair of shoes. The edges of the shoes are rounded so even though they are new, they don’t cut into the top part of my feet at all and I cannot get enough of wearing them!

Yay for May favourites!
