Empties–The Dirty Rundown | June & July 2014 Edition

I almost skipped Empties, but after speaking to some of you it seems like Empties is something we all enjoy looking at! I was part of Kalyn’s Sample Killah competition, but life was so busy/incredibly stressful that I barely killed anything other than myself. I was very impressed by the amount of killage I saw other people doing so great job!

June July Empties

1. Escents Aromatherapy Thera-Salt Muscle Relief (250g)Thumbs up

For sore muscles, headaches and a generally long day, these cypress and peppermint salts provide a most relaxing bath. All of your troubles just melt away and your head clears.

2. Steamcream (75g)Thumbs up

I love Steamcream and have raved about this “everywhere moisturizer” in the past. This calms all types of skin and is a rich moisturizer with an oatmeal infusion as its first ingredient as opposed to water. The fun tins are also a bonus!

3. Skinue Serum (11mL)Thumbs up

This is an oil-free serum that I really liked. It was hydrating, didn’t feel too heavy and was a great primer for moisturizer.

4. L’Occitane Lavender Soap (75g)Thumbs up

I love L’Occitane’s bar soaps! They are almost finished too quickly! This lavender one was pure aroma therapeutic heaven and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

5. The Honest Co. Face and Body Lotion (22mL)Thumbs up

This moisturizer actually reminds me a lot of Steamcream, but is lighter in consistency. There is almost no scent and contains shea and chamomile to moisturize and calm skin.

6. Bella Pella Soap (250g)Thumbs up

I love Bella Pella soaps and stocked up the last time I went to Montreal. You can order them online, but I love being able to smell them for real. They are glycerin soaps that are colourful, smell wonderful and look like pieces of art. Love ‘em!

7. Pure Natural Diva Organic Sugar Scrub (43mL)Thumbs up

This is a very oily scrub, but smells just amazing! You will not need moisturizer after using this.

8 & 9. Sally Hansen Nail Cleanser Pad (1/packet)Thumbs down

These come with the gel nail polish kit, but they are just lint-free wipes soaking in alcohol. I wouldn’t specifically buy these again because I can purchase the wipes by the hundreds for cheap!

10. shu uemura Cleansing Beauty Oil (150mL)Thumbs up

This is the first cleansing oil I have ever used and I still enjoy it. I can use it on my eyes which I love and my face feels clean, but not stripped of moisture after use.

11. Live Clean Refreshing Facial Wipes (30 wipes)Thumbs down

These smelled super refreshing, had a thick quilting, BUT didn’t leave my face feeling very clean. An hour later I’d feel like I had to wash my face again! You also cannot use these on your eyes.

12. AG Xtramoist Moisturizing Shampoo (237mL)Thumbs up

I’ve always loved AG hair care and this shampoo is one that both my husband and I love. It’s great for when you notice your hair getting a little brittle and dry as it gives it a moisture boost.

13. skoah kalm down mask (60g)Thumbs up

It says this is a mask, but I use it as moisturizer in the winter when my skin can get super red and dry. I’ve even used this on mosquito bites to tame itching as it contains bearberry and comfrey root to soothe angry skin.

14. The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Scrub (200mL)Thumbs up

I’ve reviewed this collection before and the scent is amazing. The scrub contains raspberry seeds and smells and looks just like raspberry jam. It’s amazing and provides light exfoliation.

15. Crabtree & Evelyn Pear and Pink Magnolia Body Lotion (5mL)Thumbs down

The consistency was nice and thick, but I just didn’t like the scent. It was a bit too floral for me which I find is the case with most Crabtree & Evelyn products.

16. Primavera Eye Contour Cream (1.5mL)Thumbs down

I found this eye cream to be kind of watery which I didn’t like and at times made the skin around my eyes tingle. I’m not sure if that’s normal, but it was enough to make me not want to purchase the full size.

17. fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate (2mL)Thinking smile

2mL was not enough for me to see any immediate results in terms of firming and a reduction in dark circles. This was very moisturizing though and had a consistency that I look for in an eye cream.

18. Missha BB Cream (5mL)Thumbs up

This was a little too light for me, but the coverage was good and had it been the right shade probably would have been a BB cream I would have enjoyed.

I still haven’t killed any full sized items yet this month, but a lot can happen in 11 days right?
