Essence Cosmetics | Metal Glam Eyeshadow Swatches with Makeup Look!

Essence Cosmetics is the featured CBB brand this month and we are all HUGE fans of this incredibly affordable, yet high quality brand. Where was Essence when I was growing up? I still can’t get over how just $10 can get me enough makeup to do an entire face and potentially even my nails. I am just continually wowed by Essence which is why I am very excited to share with you my review of the Metal Glam Eyeshadows in Golden Up!, Chocolate Jewelery, Jewel Up the Ocean and Coffee to Glow as well as a fun makeup look!

Essence Cosmetics Golden Up

Golden Up! was my least favourite of the four shadows not because of colour, but because there seemed to be quite a bit of fallout even during swatching. There were fairly large chunks of shadow that refused to stick, making application slightly uneven.

Essence Cosmetics Chocolate Jewelery

Chocolate Jewelery is where I start to die from pure unadulterated shadow love. The consistency is so deliciously smooth with just amazing colour payoff. The gold glitter is not overpowering and I can see myself using this as part of a brown smoky eye.

Essence Cosmetics Jewel Up the Ocean

Jewel Up the Ocean is a beautiful aquamarine blue that would look absolutely stunning on those of you with blue eyes. This colour is vivid, bold and has great formulation.

Essence Cosmetics Coffee to Glow

Coffee to Glow is a metallic taupe that applied better as a swatch than to my eyelids. The eyeshadow was a bit patchy when applied with a makeup brush and fared better when applied with fingers.

Before you start, apply your foundation last because there can be some glittery fallout!

I started with Coffee to Glow all over my lids, followed by Jewel Up the Ocean applied with my ring finger in dabbing motions on the center of my lid. Using a fluffy brush, I applied Chocolate Jewelery onto the outer third of my lid and brought some of the colour down to my lower lash line to create a slight smoky eye.

I tight lined my upper lashes with Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in Black Fever and finished with a coat of Essence Lash Mania False Lash Mascara (reviewed here)on both the upper and lower lashes.

For a gorgeous and coconut-scented (no, really!) glow, I applied Essence Sun Club All-in-One Bronzing Highlighter for Brunettes/Darker Skin which can be used on the eyes and body as well.

Final Verdict: Oooh, lordy these Metal Glam shadows are so incredibly awesome! I can’t remember how much they are, but I know they are around the $2.50 mark. Overall, colour payoff was fantastic, packaging oh so cute and texture soft and easy to work with. These are a great product for those on a student budget or just want quality eyeshadows at a decent price!

And for those of you who are wondering, my earrings are of the molecule DOPAMINE. Awesome, right?
