I know I’m not the only one that gets incredibly excited when The Body Shop releases brand new bath and body collections. Right away, I immediately want to know what everything smells like because there hasn’t been a Body Shop scent I have not liked. Most of The Body Shop’s scents are relatively sweet with a few being slightly more adventurous like the Smoky Poppy Collection from earlier this year. This season, inspired by Japanese women and their ritual of applying green tea to the skin or even bathing in it, The Fuji Green Tea Collection is a more mature scent, pulling away from the sweetness of scents such as Satsuma and Strawberry and using REAL green tea leaves from Mount Fuji to harness the anti-oxidative power of green tea.
Green tea is such a traditional part of Japanese culture and is the tea used in the Japanese Tea Ceremony. I went to Japan when I was a teenager and was able to take part in a traditional tea ceremony! The green tea was so bitter that my host family caught me making a face on camera, but thankfully the Fuji Green Tea Collection is much more pleasing to the senses!
The Fuji Green Tea Body Wash* ($9.00 CDN) is your standard body wash, smells more floral than tea-like and gives a nice lather while being soap-free. This is one of those body washes that leaves skin feeling clean, so you will need a moisturizer like the Fuji Green Tea Body Lotion* ($13.00 CDN) that provides a light hydration. For those with drier skin, the body butter version might be more your style. Both have an invigorating scent that even your man might like!
The Fuji Green Tea Eau de Cologne* ($20.00 CDN) is not my typical go-to fragrance, but it wears in a deliciously subtle manner as the day progresses. It is fresh and clean and has been lovely to wear in the warmer weather. The 100mL size of this fragrance is incredibly generous and will last anyone quite awhile!
This is one of the coolest looking body scrubs I have ever seen! The Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub* ($22.00 CDN) is a thick jelly scrub infused with Japanese green tea and fair trade honey from Ethiopia. The exfoliant is very mild (IMO) and maybe a little too gentle for my liking, but the consistency is too fun and I love sticking my hands into this gelatinous concoction!
Out of the two exfoliants in this collection, I found the Fuji Green Tea Exfoliating Soap* ($6.00 CDN) to be the most effective thanks to the bits of walnut shell powder. As the actual soap gets used, the walnut bits get more and more prominent = the scrub can get pretty intense!
The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Collection also includes a: Fuji Green Tea Body Butter, Body Sorbet and Bath Tea and is available online and in stores now.
