NAILS | Born Pretty Chameleon Nail Colour #33 Swatch

Talk about a difficult polish to photograph! I love having a ring light now just for lighting consistency with nail photos, but sometimes there are polishes that need sunlight or multi-dimensional lighting in order to fully showcase its "polish personality". Duochrome polishes were all the rage a few years back and I thought I was done with it until I came across the Chameleon Nail Color in #33* (6mL/$6.99 USD) while I was doing midnight shopping on the Born Pretty website (aka the most dangerous thing ever!)

This is one of those polishes were I felt
nail art might be distracting, but this duochrome polish actually shifts from green to purple like oil. I just could not get the purple to show for the life of me! This polish appears opaque in the bottle, but is actually quite sheer so I have two coats of black polish underneath plus two coats of #33.

Though this polish is referred to as a "holo polish", it really isn't. The iridescent flakies are not holographic overpower what looks like tiny holographic particles sitting in the base. We all know what holo should like thanks to holo champions like Cristine from Simply Nailogical so that detail was a bit disappointing for me.

Though this polish still had a cool finish and prompted a number of questions from people in real life, I am not sure if I would spend $7 on a tiny bottle of something I am not completely in love with. Born Pretty has true holo polishes in this size that I would totally (and have) spend the money on so I would encourage everyone to have a look!
