SKINCARE | b.liv Feel No Sluggish ATP Revival Review with Obligatory Face Mask Selfie

Back in April, I started using Malaysian brand b.liv and their renowned Japan silk masks and was pleased with the hydrating results of the first mask I tried, Immerse Me Utmost Moisture (review). This last two weeks I have been trying another b.liv mask with the fun name of Feel No Sluggish* (1 mask/$2.50 USD) which is a rejuvenating mask for tired, haggard or just "bleh"-feeling skin that uses hyaluronic acid, CoQ10 and ATP to give skin the ultimate boost!

b.liv Feel No Sluggish Japan Silk Sheet Mask

One thing that I can never get over is how plush and soft these silk masks feel! When they are freshly removed from the package, the essence seriously makes them feel so unbelievably plump!

b.liv Feel No Sluggish Japan Silk Sheet Mask

Like most sheet masks, this mask is best left on the skin for 20-30 minutes and when removed, seems to make my skin look whiter and brighter. After massaging the rest of the essence into my skin, there is a bit of a tacky finish that dries down after 30-40 minutes to a smooth finish. Moisturizer is optional as my normal-dry skin felt totally revived afterwards!

The ingredients that stood out to me were CoQ10, disodium adenosine triphosphate and sodium PCA. CoQ10, or coenzyme Q10, is found naturally in our cells and in short aids in cell structure, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and has antioxidant effects. I am actually surprised that I don't see CoQ10 in more anti-aging products. Maybe it is difficult to include with certain skincare formulations?

Disodium
adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is something I have never seen before as a featured ingredient. When I was doing my genetics degree, ATP was a word I heard daily because it is essentially a cell energy molecule. Any cellular functions rely on ATP as their primary energy source. Studies have shown ATP to have anti-inflammatory as well as cell communication properties (Paula's Choice Dictionary, July 2016).

Sodium PCA is a humectant naturally found in skin and has high water-absorbing properties. It can absorb moisture from air, bind moisture to cells and hold several times its weight in water making it an amazing ingredient for a mask or any skincare product really!

b.liv Feel No Sluggish Japan Silk Sheet Mask

Ingredients: water (aqua), butylene glycol, glyceryl polyacrylate, sodium pca (sodium 1-pyrrolidonecarboxylate solution), methylisothiazolinone, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, xanthan gum, sodium hyaluronate, coenzyme q10 (ubiquinone), hydrogenated lecithin, propylene glycol, honey extract, disodium adenosine triphosphate, lecithin, glycerin, fragrance, ppg-26-buteth-26, peg-40 hydrogenated castor oil

Final verdict: If you can move past the tackiness that hangs around for 40 minutes, this is a great mask. I don't know whether it was in my head, the fact that this mask was more silky or the essence because my skin looked so bright when I peeled it off! Sheet masks can be tough to review since they all moisturize and generally leave skin feeling plump. The main difference I noticed with this mask was the brightening in my skin which made it look more perky overall which I won't say no to!
