SKINCARE | Racinne Ultimate Youth Power Eye Serum Review and Giveaway!

I know it seems like I have been using random skincare all at once with my last skincare review being just a few days ago, but believe me when I say that since June I have been reviewing a total of four different skincare lines. I have given about a month to each which is adequate enough for a review (depending on the type of skincare product) though I would ideally like two months with one brand if I can. I have been steadily declining more recent skincare reviews as my face is fully booked until the end of the year, but one brand that made my cut-off date was a brand rooted in Korean skincare science and that was Racinne.

I was always fascinated by Racinne because it was part Kbeauty and part biotechnology. I didn't really know what that involved, but I was definitely intrigued. I was recently given the opportunity to try out the Ultimate Youth Power Eye Serum (10mL/$32.00 CDN) from the Ultimate Youth Power series. As you can probably guess, the Youth Power series is all about minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles as well as rejuvenating skin by rebuilding collagen with peptide technology (yay peptides!). The Youth Power formulations employ something Racinne terms "Nutrient Selection Science" which uses plant callus cultivation to target the best antioxidative and restorative plant extracts for the skin.

"Callus Cultivation Technology" is at the heart of Racinne's formulations. When a plant is wounded or damaged, a collection of cells form a "callus" over the injured area to repair and restore the cells to a healthy state. It seems these callus cell extracts can be topically applied to skin to do the same though I could not find topical instances of this in any scientific literature so I am unsure as to how effective this is on the skin. What I do know is that in this callus extract is a peptide called SH-decapeptide-9 or SH-DP-9. We know that peptides have shown to be quite promising in terms of collagen restoration so I always get excited when I see peptides in the ingredient list!

Niacinamide is another ingredient that I was happy to see in the list as it has shown itself to be effective against fine lines wrinkles and more importantly dark circles and even acne. If you are looking for an eye cream to target dark circles, this is an ingredient to look for or at least an ingredient that encourages microcirculation.

The applicator of this eye serum is quite cool in that it is perfectly ergonomic making it easy to push down on the pump and carefully control the amount of serum that comes out.

The serum itself is clear and is oil-free. I found it to be a cross between gel and water and after using the perfectly-shaped applicator on my undereyes, I would tap the excess around my orbital bone and my eyelids.

Final verdict: I have been using this eye serum twice a day for almost 4 weeks now and what I like about it that even though it is termed an "eye serum" I never felt the need to use any eye cream on top. It felt hydrating and though my dark circles didn't completely disappear (I haven't slept well this summer at all), this serum was quite effective at eliminating puffiness! No matter how little I slept, my undereyes remained "unpuffed". I will say my little piece on the silicones in the product though as I feel that a lot of the "instant" gratification in skincare is thanks to ingredients like dimethicone. While the formulation certainly did not feel "siliconey", I would prefer my skincare to be free of dimethicone. I will continue to use this eye serum during the day as it really helped with depuffing and more importantly keeping my undereyes depuffed all day!

If you have read all this way, then you are in for a treat! Racinne has generously offered to give one Anti-Aging Travel Set ($90 value) to one reader! I am actually kind of jealous because I wanted to try more of the face products so now one of you can!
