MAKEUP LOOK | Sweet Anniversary Look with the Dior Capitol of Light 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette

As some of you know from my social media, it was my 3 year wedding anniversary yesterday and though we were both working a long day yesterday, my husband still had flowers sent to my office (here) which we are all thoroughly enjoying as Hugo and Hemi would have just eaten at home! We do plan on going out for dinner later this weekend, so in preparation, I started playing around with Dior's Fall Skyline Collection. I know reviews are already starting for the holiday collection, but it's freakin' October and I just...can't. Beauty seasons move so quickly and I like to keep it snail's pace over here at Cosmetic Proof since November and December will be FULL ON HOLIDAY!

I wanted to create something sweet and girly for my anniversary date night look and whipped out the Dior - Capitol of Light 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette* ($73.00 CDN) mainly for the pinky mauve and purple, but let's admire the embossing shall we? Sadly, with just the swatching alone, much of the detailing was lost.

The swatches turned out better than I had expected! Dior eyeshadow palettes have been hit or miss for me over the years and though the darker shades tend to fare well in terms of pigmentation, the lighter more shimmery shades have the potential to fall flat. Not with this palette! Every shade swatched well and even the light beige and pink turned out to be fairly pigmented with my skin tone. Usually, I can't even count on these types of shades showing up as anything more than a whitish shimmer of "something".

Final verdict: This palette was surprisingly feminine when it came to shades. That pink was an unexpected Fall shade and this collection in itself is quite different than the more vampy shades we saw in Dior's Fall 2015 collection. I feel like the pink brightens up the overall neutral feel of the palette and I actually look forward to using it more.
