NAILS | Ouch! Bloody, Stapled Nail Art

I am working a glorious seven days in a row so posts are going to be a bit erratic (I'm on Day 5) until I get a day at home again. I did manage to get these awesomely disgusting bloody nails done on Friday night as I watched this cutepolish tutorial and knew I had to try it! I never thought that scratching up your base colour and filling it with "blood" could be so amusing! It's also a fairly quick and dirty manicure that you can do just before a Halloween party!

The tutorial is very well done and I would suggest watching it instead of me rambling on. My only issues were trying to find a sheer pink polish that still gave me the look of natural nails and the right mix of red polish for realistic looking blood. I'm not a sheer polish gal so I tend to give them away if I get them, but I did manage to find OPI - I Theodora You in my collection and just did one coat so that you could still see VNL. I finished off with the Julep - Matte Top Coat and used a thin dotting tool to make my gouges. The effect of ripped up flesh is even better when bits of polish start to come up in wisps!

The ideal blood combination involved a base layer of Essence - Fame Fatal* with the middle parts of the wounds being a bit darker using Essie - Model Clicks*. I then added striping tape and white acrylic paint to highlight the edges of the wounds.

What are your Halloween plans? I will be going out to my anniversary dinner! Finally!
