PETS | What Hugo and Hemingway Got for Christmas

Honestly, I could talk about my furbabies all the time and fill my Instagram feed with my kitties, but I have to remind myself that not everyone likes to see cats every single day (though I do seriously judge people who don't like animals). I like dogs too, but I love the fact that cats are low maintenance (at least the domestic short-haired ones) and charmingly aloof. I love that I have to WORK for their affection and that they have their likes and dislikes. I have had cats all of my life and I have learned that you can spend a hell of a lot of money on toys and plush beds only to discover that they would rather play with an empty mascara box or an aluminum foil ball tied to the end of a piece of string. Needless to say, cats are picky and kind of jerks sometimes though I still cannot resist spoiling these little buggers in the hopes that I will see them chase after their favourite toy!

Did you know that Avon carries an array of accessories for both cats and dogs? There are more things available for dogs, so dog owners can delight, but there were a few things that I thought my babies Hugo and Hemingway might like for Christmas so Avon was kind enough to be Kitty Santa and let them have a little kitty Christmas of their own!

The thing I was most excited about was the Plush Cat Bed* and apparently I was the only one. Neither cat seemed interested in diving into this plushy bed even when I sprinkled catnip inside. I have a feeling they thought the bed was too deep and "bouncy" as they are very cautious of lumpy surfaces like our fluffy comforter. The photos shown are as close to the bed as Hugo would go.

This little Pet Lovers Ornament* ($4.99 CDN) is adorable as the last cat ornament I purchased was to honour the memory of my last kitties Snow and Yoshi. I should probably pick up another one for Hemingway as his name was so long that I couldn't fit it on this ornament.

We need to talk about this Silicone Fish-Shaped Food Mat* ($24.99 CDN) because I thought that having the bowls built into the mat would stop the cats from flipping the water out onto the floor. NO. For 3 days in a row, I would find the bowls separate from the mat. I would fill both bowls with fresh water at night and then in the mornings I would find the whole mat dragged across the living room with water EVERYWHERE. I don't know if they thought it was some sort of game or if this was their way of giving me the middle finger, but I took it as a sign that this food mat was not meant to be.

I have saved the best for last! The Cat Scratch Board* ($9.99 CDN) was the most fascinating to both cats when I opened the package, but then it became Hugo's. Hugo LOVES THIS. He always plays with it and will sometimes bring his little mouse beside it! I often find him chillaxing right on the cardboard and have even had to flip it over because he has destroyed the one side in the month that he has been playing with it.

He honestly looks like he's at the office when he's sitting on this. He just needs a briefcase and a cup of coffee in his paw.

Hemi was nowhere to be found in any of these photos because Hugo seems to have made him his bitch in the last 2 years they have been together and ALL of these toys are now his so I apologize for the lack of Hemingway photos.

I have to say though, I've always liked Avon for the range of products they carry and now that they have cat stuff I find myself shopping for my babies too! They also have things for humans like cat-themed mugs which are absolutely adorable and necessary for any cat lover!

A few things are sold out, but all items with prices are still available at www.avon.ca or through your Avon representative.
