BATH & BODY | Crystal Hills Organics - Crystal Infused Skincare!

Last month I had posted on my Instagram stories about a local new-to-me brand that I found interesting, but had a few questions about. Crystal Hills Organics is based in Kelowna, BC in the gorgeous Okanagan Valley (their Instagram will have you wishing you could work your 9-5 job there) with a goal of using the healing power of nature to soothe, cleanse and protect and enhance the body. Crystal Hills has their own organically certified farm for all the grapes, herbs and flowers used in their products and the soil is enriched so that only the freshest and highest quality ingredients are used. Not only was I happy to learn of this, but also that the founder, Andrea Barone, has a background in Biological Science and Occupational Health and Safety. There are so many indie green brands popping up that I tend to gravitate towards the ones that have some scientific process or at the very least surround themselves with people who do.

So, what is it about Crystal Hills that sets them apart from all of the other green beauty body care brands? All products are "synergistically blended with active botanicals and high vibration crystals" like amethyst, rose, green aventurine and clear quartz. Each type of crystal has specific benefits for the skin and while I don't expect everyone to go for crystals, vibrational energy is something I have looked into. It has been proven that everything has a vibrational energy because atoms are in a constant state of motion. For those of you who remember chemistry, calculations factor in vibrational speed.

When it comes to crystals, the key to ultimate wellness is to ingest and surround yourself with items of high vibrational energy which when it comes to food is generally fresh, unprocessed. The 'healing power of crystals' (I cannot believe I just typed that out) is based on this vibrational energy. I don't really know how vibration is measured (physicists, out there?), but with the way I internalize stress, I welcome anything that can help and have found these products to be absolutely lovely both in scent and texture!

When it comes to body products, Crystal Hills currently has body scrubs, salts and my favourite, body serums. If they ever come out with skincare, I will be very happy because the body products I received were so much nicer than I thought they would be!

First up are the Crystal Moon Goddess Bath Salts* (495g/$54 CDN) which are a blend of Dead Sea Salt, organic jasmine flowers, organic marshmallow root, which softens the skin, elderflowers and white tea extract. If you like the scent of jasmine, you will absolutely adore the scent of these bath salts. They already smells so good in the tube, but once they are in warm water OMG. It's just heavenly. They also dissolve fairly quickly and FULLY so you won't be left with random bits of salt here and there.

Ingredients: Quartz Crystals combined with Solar Dried Sea Salt, Dead Sea Salt, MSM, Dendritic Salt, Organic Ashwagandha Root, Organic Jasmine Flowers, Organic Marshmallow Root, Organic Elderflowers, White Tea Extract, and a proprietary blend of essential oils including Jasmine, Organic Frankincense and Organic Neroli.

Now, my favourite! I  thought the Crystal Harmony Body Serum* (120mL/$70 CDN) was just going to be like any other body oil, but the texture, consistency and scent all exceeded my expectations. The Crystal Harmony series uses green aventurine quartz and a blend of sweet orange, ylang ylang and vanilla to restore inner peace and serenity. This serum also contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and pairs nicely on freshly waxed or shaven legs.

The texture starts off a little greasy like most body oils, but massages into the skin with a dry oil finish. I don't even need to wait to put on clothing because the serum absorbs within a few minutes. The serum also works best when applied to damp skin so I leave my bottle right outside the shower. I secretly want to put this on my face because I love it so much...

Ingredients: Green Quartz Crystal, Coconut Oil, Calendula Flower Extract, Moringa Seed Oil, Organic Jojoba Seed Oil, Green Tea Leaf Extract, Elderberry Fruit Extract, and a proprietary blend of essential oils including Pink Grapefruit, Organic Sweet Orange and Vanilla.

The Crystal Love Body Serum* (120mL/$70 CDN) has the same beautiful consistency and features mallow leaf extract, organic rosehip oil, organic apricot kernel oil and rose absolute. What's crazy is that 60,000 rose petals are needed to make just one ounce of rose absolute that goes into each of the Crystal Love products! This is more of a sensual scent so this is probably a nice one for a romantic night ;-)

Ingredients: Rose Quartz Crystal, Coconut Oil, Organic Rosehip Fruit Oil, Organic Apricot Kernel Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Mallow Flower/Leaf Extract, Elderberry Fruit Extract, and a proprietary blend of essential oils including Geranium Rose, Organic Neroli and Rose Absolute

Final verdict: Crystal healing aside, these are GOOD products. I have used a boatload of essential oil products because I have never responded well to medication or alcohol all of my life so I have had to look for more natural ways of dealing with stress. Lavender oils help me sleep, peppermint and eucalyptus for my almost daily headaches and citrus oils for waking up. Ibuprofen is always in my back pocket, but I have to say that the last two weeks have been really rough as my days have been SO LONG. I just about cried last week on multiple days because there has been so much to do, but knowing that I was going to have a shower and inhale the goodness of the body serums was the real silver lining.

These are pretty pricey products, though I understand why, but I love knowing that I am supporting a local independent business committed to providing people with not only clean beauty products, but ones that advocate for mental and physical wellness. I would highly recommend the body serums, but if $70 is too much to swallow, try the travel sizes which are what I have here. At $15.95 for a 30mL bottle, you will have more than enough for over a week's worth AND you can try ALL of the scents!
