SKINCARE | Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser (But It's So Much More!)

Remember a long time ago when I said I would review my entire Tata Harper collection? Well, it has been almost a year since my last Tata Harper review so apologies for that! At this point, the brand has grown so much since I started using the products, but it is still one of those brands that not everyone has tried mainly due to the hefty price point. While I would never push anyone to purchase luxury green beauty, incorporating healthier skincare has done wonders for my skin so I hope it does for any of you as well!

My second favourite Tata Harper product (after the Resurfacing Mask) is the Regenerating Cleanser (125mL/$104 CDN)** because like the Resurfacing Mask, it is like the everything product. It is SO MUCH MORE than just a cleanser! Not only does it cleanse the skin, but acts as both a chemical and physical exfoliant using natural BHAs (willow bark extract) and pomegranate enzymes and perfectly round apricot seed powder. It can even be used as a mask when your skin is feeling congested as it contains pink clay from France! The first time I used it at Tata's Farm, the instant brightening effect and the citrus scent was intoxicating and I was grateful that it was good for daily use!

Like most of Tata Harper's products, this cleanser is Ecocertifed, vegan-friendly and is gentle enough to use everyday while being safe to use even on sensitive skin. Pregnant women are also able to use Tata's products. I should add that the Refreshing Cleanser is a good option for those with very sensitive skin or would prefer not to have any physical exfoliation whatsoever as the formula is the same sans the apricot seed powder. If a client mentioned to me before a facial that they were prone to redness, I would opt for this cleanser instead.

One thing that can be a bit of a dealbreaker with totally natural products like Tata Harper's products is the lack of phthalates or fragrance so what you smell is the ingredients as they are, but I have never had anyone dislike the scent of this cleanser! It has a citrus scent thanks to a blend of essential oils containing bergamot and though essential oils have a bit of a reputation for being irritating to the skin, my husband and have not experienced anything negative.

There are a few ingredients to highlight that make this cleanser special with the first being that the first ingredient is aloe juice which you rarely see in skincare due to preservation issues. We all know the benefits of aloe so I love that they were able to utilize it in a number of their products.

The apricot seed powder is small and perfectly round so that we aren't reliving the "tear your skin" St.Ives Apricot Scrub of the 90s and early 2000s and instead gently polishing and buffing the topmost layer of the skin to reveal a luminous glow. Tata loves using cleansing tools so this scrub was actually made for you to use TOGETHER with your Foreo and Clarisonic! I found this amazing because it is normally not advisable to use a physical scrub with either of these cleansing tools, but Tata made it a point to have a formula that would work with them! I would only recommend using the cleanser with a cleansing tool once a week as it is a more intense exfoliation.

In addition to physical exfoliation, this cleanser has chemical exfoliation using pomegranate enzymes (AHA) and willow bark extract (BHA) so we are getting rid of dead skin cells on the surface as well as clearing out the inside of each pore leading to minimized pore appearance.

How to Use the Regenerating Cleanser

I personally use this cleanser as the second step after an oil cleanse, but the first thing I learned was to use this cleanser on DRY skin! I have found that exfoliation in general works better on dry skin. Massage the cleanser in circular motions all over the skin (I avoid my microbladed eyebrows) and then rinse off with warm water.

The best tip I have when using this product? If your skin is in serious need of decongesting, apply a thick mask-worthy layer of this cleanser followed by a layer of Resurfacing Mask! Leave this cocktail on for 5-10 minutes and rinse off!

Final verdict: I may have received my first bottle as part of the job, but I have since purchased two extra bottles plus a bottle of Refreshing Cleanser because I love this cleanser so much! My husband is also a huge fan and I never get tired of seeing the instant glow every day without feeling like my skin is getting stripped. The ingredients are nothing less than exquisite and though this is a luxury product, this is a product that not only works, but has multiple uses as well! I feel genuinely GOOD when using this cleanser and will continue to repurchase as I make my way through the bottles. I currently use the empty bottles for flowers :-)

The Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser can be found at Beauty Mark, Sephora, Murale and Kiss and Makeup.

**This was gratis at the time, but I have purchased this cleanser twice since!
