SKINCARE | Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm

Apologies for the almost week long absence. I had a 22 hour work weekend which ended with me getting sick with a fever Sunday night to Tuesday. I was still pretty sick today and missed two events which I would have loved to share with you, but I DID survive my work day. There was a lot going on so I just hid in my office with a Mickey Mouse face mask and my Saje diffuser running. The last couple of days have been about keeping things really simple and clean and though I am sad that I lost a week of Lunar February posts, I will end the month with one from a brand that I really love and haven't talked about in awhile - Farmacy

Farmacy is one of my favourite  plant-based beauty/science brands and though I still consider it a luxury brand, I find it far more approachable than some of the others. Pricing is fair and the ingredients are awesome. Many of you know that I am big double cleanser so on days when I wear makeup, I always start with an oil followed by a cream cleanser. After using the much loved Shu Uemura cleansing oil for years, I was used to seeing oil cleaners in liquid form until I started using the Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm* ($44.00 CDN). I know there are a few balm cleansers on the market, but this was the first one I really wanted to try!

Made for all skin types and with Farmacy's patented Echinacea GreenEnvy complex, this cleansing balm melts into a silky smooth liquid that can be be used all over the face to lift away dirt and makeup while leaving the skin unbelievably soft. I didn't know how much to use the first time and using the included spatula, scooped up about a quarter size of balm. THIS IS TOO MUCH. A little goes a long way so a dime size should do it! Maybe a little extra if you are wearing waterproof eye makeup.

Ingredients: Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Peg-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Peg-10 Isostearate, Polyethylene, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Amino Esters-1, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Amber Powder, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Echinacea Purpurea Root Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Moringa Pterygosperma Seed Extract, Disodium Phosphate, Citric Acid

I thought I would have to really work the balm to have it liquefy, but in just a few seconds you get a clear liquid that if I had to compare it to the Shu Uemura "green" cleansing oil, is ever so slightly thicker in consistency, but actually left my skin feeling a little softer...I know, I know.  It's almost blasphemous to say, but that tiny amount of papaya enzyme seems to do its chemical exfoliation thing and make my skin feel that much better!

Final verdict: This guy turned out to be a VERY worthy competitor to my most well-used liquid oil cleansers. It smelled lovely, worked brilliantly well and the jar format allows me to get every single drop because it's solid! Am I going to switch from liquid oil cleansers to cleansing balms? That, I am undecided on because I like having an immediate liquid option that takes up a little less space on my much cluttered bathroom counter, but to have a cleanser that also exfoliates my skin at the same time just makes things so easy when the week has been rough. This is definitely a cleanser that is worth a try that won't break the bank and will add a little bit of spice in your skincare routine.
