MAKEUP | Givenchy Lunar New Year Collection #LunarFebruary

How many of you are celebrating the Lunar New Year with friends and family this weekend? In my last post, I had mentioned how nostalgic I felt this year with memories of intimate family dinners, but this year, we are all doing our own thing so messages via text are as close as it will get this year in addition to a message from my dad to have kids soon as that he can spoil them with red pockets. Subtle Dad, subtle.

Many of you may have seen the beautiful Lunar New Year products that have come out, but I have to say that the prettiest pieces I have seen this year come from Givenchy with their Prisme Libre Loose Powder and Le Rouge Intense Color Lipstick! Not only are these pieces red, but feature a stunning silver-embossed genuine printed leather!

Givenchy Lunar New Year Prisme Libre and Le Rouge Review and Swatches

The Prisme Libre Loose Powder* ($69.00 CDN) in their bestselling shade No. 1 Mousseline Pastel, is a four colour finely milled powder that blends together to create a translucent, but radiant finish to the skin. In classic Givenchy tradition, this powder has a floral scent, but cannot be smelled once on the skin. The puff applicator is fun to use as you get to have a four Gs on your face before blending them out with a brush!

The finish the powder leaves isn't as quite as silicone-y as my IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores, but does set my foundation well enough for the day and takes away most of the tacky finish that some foundations leave behind.

The Le Rouge Lunar New Year Intense Color Lipstick* ($45.00 CDN) is a satin finish coral red creme lipstick in the shade #305. While the packaging is limited edition, the actual shade is not. The detailing on the cap is just beautiful and the formula is just as impressive. This shade of red is much brighter than what I would normally wear and is a shade that requires some really white pearly teeth. When I first wore this, I was like "Ooh, I need some of those whitestrips ASAP!" Granted, I am a big tea drinker so I am always self-conscious and aware of what type of red lipstick I am wearing.

Final verdict: Other than the Noir Interdit Mascara (review), this is my first foray into Givenchy's colour makeup and I am now quite interested in seeing what their other lipstick formulations are like! I would be interested in trying more of the Le Rouge lipsticks in perhaps a matte finish. For a well known brand, it is one of the more quiet ones on the blogging scene and it is only in the last year that I have started seeing reviews of their products online. I have put a few Givenchy products in my Sephora cart so you might see more of them on the blog this year!

The Givenchy Lunar New Year Edition pieces are available exclusively at Sephora and Sephora.ca.
