HAIR | 3 Things from Shu Uemura Art of Hair I am Loving #LunarFebruary

A few days ago, I brought up on Twitter whether instead of the same old Valentine's Day stories, I should dedicate this ENTIRE month to featuring Asian brands in honor of the Lunar New Year and many of you responded very positively so here is my first brand -  Shu Uemura! Obviously, this is a very well known luxury brand (I will feature some fun Korean beauty brands too this month!) and I adore their makeup, skincare and a number of their hair products. Their cleansing shampoo is one of my favourites and when my hair feels lost and confused, I tend to use this as a reset button because of its attention to colour-treated hair. While I am perfectly comfortable using drugstore haircare products, there is something about luxury hair products that make my hair feel extra special.

I have recently added a couple of other Shu products to my hair roster and though they are definitely on the more luxurious side of hair care, I have yet to come across satisfyingly similar products in a lower price point.

Now, that we are all obsessed with dry shampoo, like me, you have probably had the opportunity to try MANY dry shampoos at a variety of price points. While I am a huge fan of COLAB Extreme Volume for specifically VOLUME, it doesn't leave your hair feeling very nice because there is so much added texture. The Color Lustre Dry Shampoo* (126g/$39.00 CDN) has a super fine texture as well as a light non-intrusive scent. It sprays out clear so those with dark hair don't have to worry too much and what is REALLY cool is that it even refreshes the ends of your hair so if you have shorter hair, you can literally use this from top to bottom!

I blow-dry my hair all the time now as I don't have 4 hours to let my hair air-dry so anything that can help me save blow-dry time is welcomed! The Color Lustre Brilliant Glaze Thermo-Milk* (150mL/$38.00 CDN) is a leave-in heat protector for normal and coloured-treated hair that imparts shine to hair in addition to sealing it off from heat styling. It is a cream texture and I only use it from around my ears down to the ends of my hair. I have lots of baby hairs that are made more obvious from blow-drying so when I use this milk, I find that the overall "shape" of my hair is more controlled.

I have saved my favourite product for last because when it comes to saving time, the Straightforward Time-Saving Blow Dry Oil* (185ml/$39.00 CDN) is kind of amazing. Touted to giving you 2x faster the blow-dry time (maybe it was a little faster, but I can't be sure), this is an OIL which not only saves me the step of applying hair oil, but also makes my hair feel so smooth and look shiny. If you have fine hair, I probably wouldn't use this, but for my medium coarse hair, I can actually use BOTH the milk and oil without having any issues. I have used this oil alone though and the sleekness is REAL.

Like I said, these are real hair treats, but especially for those that spend hundreds of dollars to colour their hair, I feel like there is a bit of an investment when it comes to maintenance. What have been your recent hair care must-haves? I am open to everything from drugstore to something the Queen would use!
