SKINCARE | Avon Anew Ultimate Gold Peel-Off Mask #AvonForMay

Though the CBB has monthly brands and themes to help with blogging inspo, I tend to do my own themes as well if I feel like I have been neglecting a brand I love. After planning out my bullet journal for May as well as Mother's Day posts, I started thinking about Avon and what the brand has meant to women around the world. It has come so far since I was a kid and I did not think I would be using their products as an adult so my personal brand of the month will be none other than Avon!

I have a very intimate relationship with masks and though Avon has a number of products for literally everyone, it seemed only fitting to launch #AvonForMay with the Anew Ultimate Gold Peel-Off Mask*!

Masks that peel off are just plain fun and when they are shiny and gold it makes for a fun night in! The newest Avon mask is formulated with ingredients to enhance skin's smoothness and brightness to reveal younger looking skin!

With a peel off mask, I don't expect too much when it comes to skincare benefits because well, I'm just going to peel everything off! Incredibly though, when I had a look at the ingredients list, there were some good things in the top half of the list which greatly satisfying. There is even a small amount of actual gold and silver! Niacinamide is right up there for brightening the skin and even salicylic acid to clean out the pores!

The instructions say to apply just a thin layer, but for photos sake I really wanted to be totally golden for my mask selfie! It does take longer to dry though and typically it SHOULD only take 1-2 minutes to dry compared to the crazy 30 minutes it took me! The mask had a nice floral scent and though you can squeeze out the mask and apply with your fingers, I used my trusty mask brush. If you have sensitive eyes, try not to get into the "dark circles" area of your eyes because I found my eyes watering a bit for the first minute or two before the mask dried.

Ingredients: Water, Polyvinyl Alcohol (what makes it PEEL), Alcohol Denat., Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Glycereth-26, Niacinamide, PEG-8, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract (skin firming), Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract (skin conditioning, anti-inflammatory), Bentonite, Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Salicylic Acid (BHA), Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Hydroxide, Coco-Glucoside, Alcohol, Glaucine, Silica, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Gold, Silver, Titaanium Dioxide, Mica, Iron Oxides

My biggest fear with peel off masks is that they will hurt like a mofo to peel off, but it honestly just felt like any other peel off mask. The thinner your mask layer, the less it will "hurt" to remove. I did not think it would change my skin all that much, but when I removed the mask, my cheeks and forehead looked decidedly brighter and they were soft not dry to the touch! It was actually super cool! I then rinsed off the extra bits with warm water and resumed my regular skincare routine.

Final verdict: It actually did work! Peel off masks are always bit gimmicky but if you want that quick "Hollywood Glow" prior to heading out or makeup application, this mask was really nice! The regular price of almost $40 is a bit expensive, but right now it is on sale for $25 which is a much better price! I would definitely use this again, but maybe applied in a thinner layer so that I can have the baby soft skin in just 5 minutes!
