SKINCARE | Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask #KBeautyJune

I hesitate to talk about Laneige much on the blog only because this is a Korean beauty brand that has really exploded now that it is available in Sephora and I would rather feature KBeauty products that are not readily available here. Though there are a plethora of Laneige products that I have yet to discuss, I wanted to jump the gun with a product that I started using right away when it appeared at my doorstep - the Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask* because it is just a fascinating one!

This is an overnight mask for the delicate eye area which soothes tired and puffy eyes for a brighter, more awakened appearance in the morning. I have always loved sleeping masks and Laneige is VERY well known for their cult favourite Water Bank Sleeping Mask (review) so when it came to a mask for the eyes I was immediately wooed!

There is 25mL of product which I think is fairly generous considering a 15mL eye cream should last at least 3 months when used twice a day. Since this is a sleeping mask, you would only be using it once a day and not even every day. Now, I'm going to be honest here. I don't use it as a sleeping mask. I did at first to keep with the application instructions, but I actually use it in the mornings as an eye refresher and primer! It doesn't make foundation or concealer pill and actually makes the undereye area quite smooth!

Though I will speak to the formula of this eye mask in a second, let's talk about this ceramic applicator! This is really what made this such an enjoyable product to use as the applicator is always cool to the touch and has the most perfect rounded applicator tip making massaging the mask around the eyes such a treat. This eye mask can be used on the eyelids and up to the brow bone without upsetting the eye area. If anyone is wondering about the hygiene level of the applicator, make sure you wipe off the tip after each use before inserting back into the bottle.

The formula itself is very light, quick to absorb and smells a little like lavender, Laneige's trademark SleepScent, which also helps to relax the brain before bed. While there are some nice things in this formula like skin-soothing agents quinoa, beta-glucan and hesperidin, they all come after one of the most commonly included ingredients for sleeping masks promoting perky skin in the morning - dimethicone. I said it in my review for the Water Bank Sleeping Mask that it only really worked because of the presence of silicones and I am tempted to say it again with this Eye Sleeping Mask. There is caffeine to depuff along with the physical coolness of the ceramic roller, but the effects will just be temporary. It does feel fantastic to apply though and I love the larger size of the ceramic applicator.

Final verdict: While I really didn't notice too much of a difference when using this sleeping mask at night, I really did like using this in the mornings as it definitely de-puffed my eyes and went on well under makeup. The other plus to using this mask in the mornings is that the dimethicone plumps up any fine lines so it almost acts like an oil-free eye primer too! I go oil-free under my eyes in the mornings because I tend to get milia if I use creams both day and night so this is a great day option for eye "cream" as the mask is light and does its thing right away. As for its purpose as a sleeping mask, it will give you relief using a pretty baller ceramic applicator, but the effects will be short-lived.
