KBEAUTY | The Face Shop Mask.Lab Lift Up Face Mask #31DaysofSheetMasks

I am making a point of trying weird masks and when this new mask from The Face Shop's Mask.Lab series came out last month I knew I had to try it. Lifting sheet masks are not a new thing, but the fact that this came with an elastic strap was intriguing and the ingredients in the essence looked decent even though this was not a silicone-free mask. This was really more about the skintertainment factor more than anything else so let's see how much of a workout this mask was!

The Lift Up Face Mask ($4.00 CDN) is a 2-step mask containing a sheet mask and an elastic band that stretches from ear to ear that is meant to contour and improve the facial silhouette. The mask essence contains peptides and hydrolyzed collagen (in the first half of the ingredients list!) that aim to lift less than perky skin. I'm still too young for jowls, but there are times when I look at video playbacks of myself and see a hint of jowl action which make me question my youth.

Ingredients: WATER/EAU, GLYCERIN, PROPANEDIOL, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, BETAINE, PANTHENOL, HYDROLYZED COLLAGEN, ADENOSINE, PALMITOYL TRIPEPTIDE-1, PALMITOYL TETRAPEPTIDE-7, DIMETHICONE, CARBOMER, XANTHAN GUM, DISODIUM EDTA, CETYL ETHYLHEXANOATE, ALLANTOIN, PEG-60 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, DIPOTASSIUM GLYCYRRHIZATE, SODIUM HYALURONATE, POLYSORBATE 20, PARFUM/FRAGRANCE

The mask itself is made of bamboo cellulose fibers and had a great fit and plush feel when it came to adherence and overall size proportions. I would have been more than happy to leave this mask on as is! It did have a strong floral fragrance which I was not the biggest fan of as the scent reminded me of an old Asian Auntie.

Get ready for the glamour shots everyone! When the time came for me to attach the elastic band, I was surprised at just how TIGHT the fit was. Yes, I have big Dumbo ears, but it actually hurt! I guessed this was normal as I figured lifting required a bit of pain, but even with some readjustment, the band forcefully pushed my lips out in a constant pout and by the end of 20 minutes, I had such a headache.

I realize it would have been helpful to do a before photo, but I didn't think about showing "AFTER" shots until it was well, after everything was done. I felt that the right side of my face was slightly lifted, but my face is asymmetrical around the jaw from TMJ so my jaw muscles on one side can look more tense than the other. I was also in so much pain that it is possible one side of my jaw WAS indeed more tense than the other so it is difficult for me to say whether my actual SKIN was lifted.

Final verdict: I would not buy this mask again, BUT I have absolutely zero regrets about picking it up because I was just too curious about how this would work. The mask itself was not too tacky with what I would consider medium levels of tackiness and I know there are many brands who do the "V-mask" so I will keep on looking to find ones that don't hurt quite as much!

You can find the Mask.Lab Lift Up Mask at all Face Shop locations.
