Day 2 of the N31DC–Silver with Spring-Coloured Squares
Silver is the theme for Day 2 and I’m cheating a little bit by using a silver holo, but I really wanted a background that popped and made people say, “wuuuut?!” I began with three coats of Glitter Gal-Silver 3D/Holo and sat back to enjoy the holo awesomeness before starting my actual design.
I wanted to add on some spring colours, so I decided to draw some squares with acrylic paint and then outline them in black. I wish I had a dress that had this pattern because I am really loving it!
Top 12 Nail Polishes of 2012!
Although the idea isn’t anything particularly new, I’ve never done one of these posts before. I figure, if I’m sitting here reflecting on notable events of 2012 I should mention the nail polishes that have made an impression on me. To some, it may sound superficial how much nail polish is a part of my life, but I consider nail art to be a true hobby of mine and every artist needs a medium and canvas. Nail polish and nails are mine and for many of you. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that nail polish is not only fun and fashionable, but therapeutic in its uses as well. I should add that not all of the nail polishes chosen were released in 2012, so here’s to my favourites of 2012!
Day 10–Holla to the Holo Gradient!
I have to admit that today’s manicure is a somewhat of a saved failure. I started out with Glitter Gal – Lizard Belly 3D which is a GORGEOUS dark green holo! This is just two easy breezy coats.
Here is where the trouble starts…I tried to sponge on Glitter Gal – Silver 3D, but for some reason makeup sponges just absorb Glitter Gal polishes and virtually leave no polish to transfer to the nail! Instead, I used Butter London – Dodgy Barnett which worked much better and I was able to get a slight gradient. It still wasn’t looking quite how I wanted so I threw on some black polka dots, which seemed to make this manicure less of a visual disaster.

Holla for Holos! Glitter Gal–Copper 3D
I figure I'd better wear all of my holos now while there is sunshine because Vancouver will be plunged in darkness and rain from September till June :( Some of you may remember my Glitter Gal Haul and only now am I getting a chance to wear more of them! I even timed this swatch by checking The Weather Network to make sure there would be sunshine for proper photos! This is Glitter Gal – Copper 3D in three thin coats and OTD topcoat. I could have done two thick coats, but thinner coats are always better for drying time. The formula is a dream to work with, just like their Silver 3D and applied very evenly on the nail.
I love Copper 3D in sunshine! Isn’t she gorgeous?! Also, we’ve got just under a week to enter my Birthday and Julep giveaways so enter on the sidebar if you haven’t already!
Color Club Yum Gum + Glitter Gal Silver 3D
It was partly sunny today so it really put me in the mood to try out one of my holos! I decided to layer two coats of Glitter Gal Silver 3D overtop of my previous mani of Color Club Yum Gum and it resulted in a pink linear holo mani! I took the first picture with flash because I love seeing holos in action!
Nail Mail – The Glitter Gal Holo Haul!
I just received my order of Glitter Gal nail polishes from Harlow and Co. and now I can’t wait until we finally have sun to wear these holos! I have been waiting for Light as a Feather 3D and Frappe 3D to be in stock for what feels like forever, but I’m sure it’s just been a few weeks in the normal, non-crazy nail polish world! Harlow and Co. provides free shipping on all orders $50 or more so I also picked up Copper 3D and 10 to Midnight ($14 USD each). I guess Glitter Gal updated their logo as well? Sorry, as evil as flash is, I had to use it to take the photos because it’s dreary and rainy today and let’s face it, to be truly amazed by a holo you need tons of light!
