Purchased by me and it was QUITE the splurge!
As some of you know especially from my Instagram, back in April while I was stress leave, I decided to dedicate my beauty budget for the remainder of 2024 to one brand and that brand was Dior! I was scrolling through Instagram and started seeing some their new releases, events and GWPs and it made me go back into my old Dior press samples and reminisce. In doing so, I realized that I had been neglecting a VERY good brand with quality formulations and of course, FANTASTIC packaging. Over the years, I have been tiring of Sephora and their lack of client service so I have been buying all of my Dior products almost exclusively from the Dior counter at Holt Renfrew. I like that I am buying from a Canadian department store and giving commission to a real person. I have also been rewarded with facials every month, invitations to exclusive events with Dior as well as GWPs that are way better than what I have ever received at Sephora. Suffice it to say, I am going to be continuing to shop with Holt Renfrew!
It has been a loooooong time since I have done a makeup post of this size! I used to review so many makeup collections and I do miss doing them so when I saw this year's Dior Holiday Collection and the gold royal motif packaging designed by Pietro Ruffo, I knew I would have to own a few pieces! I spent all of my own money on this collection (no more press packages for me) and it was not cheap, but like I said, all of my money is going here now so no regrets!
Dior Palette Couture Eyeshadow Palette Limited Edition
The Dior Palette Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($105 CDN) is an absolute stunner of five metallic shadows that can be used to create a day or night look. I preferred this palette to the other palette that contained lip and cheek products as over the years I have realized that I NEVER use the lip products when mixed with eye/cheek products! I also don't like it when the cream products can dusty from the powder products.
The other truly beautiful thing about this palette is the metal closure with "Christian Dior" across the front. Pull it down to reveal the holiday goodness!

I will say that Dior does the metallic shadow QUITE well with the shades being consistently pigmented and the overspray actually still being intact despite my swatching! All the shadows here are creamy and swatched in one swipe. The purple was the one that was the least smooth, but still it wasn't patchy and makes for a great smoky eye! My favourites are obviously the neutral brown shades, but I want to try using the metallic red at some point!
Dior 5 Couleurs Limited Edition in 863 Soir de Bal
I initially chose this quint as it matched my purple hair a little bit more. Shades of taupe surround a metallic silver heart for a festive look and when I swatched that silver, I fell in love with the pigmentation and how creamy the texture was. I have even worn it as an all over shadow with a little bit of that purple/grey (bottom left corner) as the outer V.
All five shades swatched beautifully and the taupe shades are perfect for every day at work. Generally I have found this palette easier to use than I thought AND wore the metallic silver shade more comfortably than I thought I would!
I picked up Golden Masquerade as an afterthought as I swatched it at the boutique and thought that it would be an easier palette to wear as the shades were slightly more neutral. With the exception of the matte burgundy shade, all of the other shades are fairly muted. I thought these shades would clash with my currently purple hair, but because they were not as intense as I expected they end up brightening my eyes and face rather than dramatizing them.
As much as I love the packaging, high polish cases are kind of the worst because they get grimy so fast. They always looks pretty disgusting once you start using them so I wish there was a pattern on them.
While I have worn and enjoyed Soir de Bal (here), I have yet to try the top coat which I was apparently supposed to layer with Soir de Bal...whoops!
Dior Addict Fashion Lipstick Case in Grand Bal
I HAD to have this limited edition Dior Addict case! I know they are such a cash grab because you then need to buy a separate lipstick for it, but what I've been doing is just swapping the two shades I have among my cases.
Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Sequin in Dreams 100 and Dazzle 323
These liquid lipsticks already exist in these shades, but for the Holidays a "sequin" finish is added which is when you press your lips together to reveal a hint of sparkle. The formula is super smooth and is a dream to apply, but OMG they are very drying especially at work with the heat going on! I always have to apply gloss or balm on top which kind of defeats the purpose of a longwear lipstick, but I find them just too drying after the initial moisture wears off. Can you imagine that I then have dry lips WITH glitter on them! It's kind of a nightmare and I am so sad these weren't more hydrating and the shades and initial feeling were lovely!
Forever Couture Luminizer in 002 Corail Lumiere
There were two shades of this powder highlighter, but the coral shade seemed more interesting to me and I was really more about the beautiful packaging! The overspray is also quite solid so even with swatching, the pattern did not go away!
I like that this is not overly sparkly and looks very warm on the skin. While I don't wear highlighter regularly, I do love mixing coral/orange blush with rosy highlighters.
And there you have it! My last big review of 2024 and I think I managed to go out with a BANG! Did you end up grabbing anything from the Dior Holiday collection?
