No More Proper Lighting Required When Doing Nails!

I just picked up this nail polish from the new Lise Watier collection thinking that it was just a normal average Joe nail polish in a gorgeous deep and glittery wine red when I noticed that there was a button on the top of the cap...hmmmm....it turns out that this polish is part of the Lise Watier Light Cap Nail Lacquer Collection! There is an actual LED light shining out of the cap, which I have activated in the picture below for you to see. Now, as for how useful this light is, it's quite a focused light so it's a little blinding to use as your SOLE light source, but it is nonetheless quite cute :-)

Beauty Joint Haul

I am an avid Reddit Laquerista and one of the online shopping sites recommended is Beauty Joint which has a great selection of what I think of as more "hard to find" makeup at discount prices. The reviews on Beauty Joint were fairly positive so I decided to pick up a few things to see if they would make it to Canada! Sure enough, 10 days later, there were my babies in what I now call my "Nail Box" well-packaged and in one piece!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream -  Abu Dhabi  ($4.50)
CHERIMOYA Crack Nail Polish -  Apocalypse  ($2.99)
CHERIMOYA Crack Nail Polish - You & I  ($2.99)
NYX Matte Nail Polish - Navy  ($3.99)
LA COLOR Art Deco Nail Art - Black  ($1.99)
LA COLOR Art Deco Nail Art - Wild Fuchsia  ($1.99)

L'Occitane Limited Edition Shea Africa Collection

It started with shopping for a little "stuffer" gift to add to a friend's birthday package which then led to me seeing a sign in the store that said "Free Gift with $70 Purchase" which then led to...well we ALL know where this is going...
This was actually my first L'Occitane purchase and most likely won't be my last! So, in addition to getting for myself what I found for my friend's birthday gift, I also picked up a limited edition hand cream set and lipgloss. The GWP was a shea butter package that came in a little pink makeup bag. So cute!

The hand lotions are purse-sized and come in he scents: "Hibiscus Flower", "Cocoa Flower" and "Desert Rose" - $32

Hibiscus Flower lip balm - $18
Bonus pack: Shea shampoo and conditioner, soap and hand cream
All three hand creams smelled heavenly and didn't leave my hands greasy. Their scents were light, fresh and subtle and I loved Hibiscus Flower so much that I knew had to have it on my lips too! The only thing that I didn't like about the lip balm is the twist-off cap...it's the tiniest little thing and I know that one day I will lose it trying to align the little grooves of the cap with that of the lip balm tube...I loved the scent enough to risk it though! I believe this collection is still in stores so if you get a chance, check this collection out!

Halloween Nails!

I have been waiting ALL MONTH to be able to do these babies! I only wish my right hand turned out as nicely as my left...I need to learn how to be ambidextrous...

Apologies for the PC pic. I was just too excited to share!

I'm sure I will enjoy these nails for the rest of the week!

Luxe Box October Unboxing!

So, in addition to Glymm, I also decided to try out the Luxe Box by Loose Button, which has been around a little longer than Glymm, just to compare boxes and of course get even more deluxe samples! The Luxe Box works the exact same way as the Glymm Box, but is a little bit more expensive at $12/month. From what I've read, the Luxe Box USED to be $10/month, but increased their prices a few months ago.

And now, the part that most people care about, the unboxing!

From what I've seen, this is new packaging for the Luxe Box, but still looks sleek.

Coupon for $25 off at Dealuxe.ca along with a little explanation of what's in my Luxe Box

From L - R: Moroccanoil, CK Euphoria body lotion, CK Euphoria perfume sample, Pur Minerals Correcting Primer, Olay Pro-X eye cream and Lise Watier Flash Radiance

Just a closer look at everything
Moroccanoil (full size $40)
Calvin Klein Euphoria Lotion (full size $58)
Calvin Klein Euphoria Perfume (full size $78)
Pur Minerals Correcting Primer (full size $31)
Olay Professional Pro-X (full size $60)
Lise Watier Flash Radiance Flash Lift Vials (full size $27 - 7 vials)

So, no full-sized products in this Luxe Box, but the Moroccanoil comes quite close as I have purchased this size before at Chatters Salon for around $15 and it lasts FOREVER since you only need a small amount. I've seen a couple of people say that because they have dark hair, they probably won't use the Moroccanoil in this Luxe Box because it's for light-coloured hair, but to be honest, I have dark hair and I still love the way my hair feels when I use it. I really don't think it matters all that much...

I know that other people received nail polish and a Lise Watier lip gloss in their Luxe Boxes which probably would have swayed my vote, but because Glymm gave THREE full-sized products, all of which I would use, I have to say that between the Luxe and the Glymm Boxes for this month, I have to say Glymm Box FTW!

Can't wait until next month's boxes!

NOTW - Beetlejuice Stripes with Blue Glitter Tips!

After reading about Revlon's new Expressionists collection since the beginning of September, the collection FINALLY arrived at my local London Drugs and I couldn't resist picking up Blue Mosaic. The glitter was fairly chunky with silver hexagonal bits floating around, which made painting my tips a bit challenging, but I'm sure that if I were to use this polish to cover my whole nail, it would look sooo sparkly!

Colours Used:
OPI - Black Onyx
L.A.Colors Art Deco - White
Revlon - Blue Mosaic

October Glymm Unboxing (My First!)

Now, I'm sure many of you have heard of Glymm and its personalized "beauty in a box" service, but for those of you who haven't, Glymm is a subscription-based service that, for $10/month, delivers 3 -5 luxury (or even full-sized) samples to your door every month. Now, the samples aren't just the little plastic packets that give you just one or two applications. They are actually large enough to let you get acquainted with the product and form a genuine opinion about them!

Anyway, moving on to the unboxing!
Gotta love pretty pink packaging!

A little teaser note before I tear into the box in the most unladylike way!

Three full sized products! This Glymm Box is MORE than paid for!
The products I received from L to R are as follows:
Vasanti Micronized Silky Eyeshadow (full size $15)
Lise Watier Lip Kiss Crayon Gloss (full size $18)
Caudalie Premier Cru Cream (full size $150)
Principessa Bacio Lip Balm (full size $11)

As you can see, 75% of the Glymm box is composed of full-sized product, which also means that the eyeshadow, lip crayon and lip balm are already retailing at $44! Not bad for a $10 box! And of course, there are always jelly beans to munch on ;-)

Overall, I am very pleased with this Glymm box as everything that I received are products that I would most certainly enjoy using! This is a fantastic idea for a service and gives you a great opportunity to try out new products with the added element of surprise. I already own two of the Lise Watier lip crayons in different colours and I love the way they smell, feel and look so I'm pretty happy that I have a new colour to try out for the holidays! So, if you'd like to experience mini-Christmas every month head on over to Glymm or you can be a gem and use my invitation link!

NOTW - Purple

As part of my Wet 'n Wild Halloween Haul last week, I picked up a beautiful sparkly purple polish that I loved the moment I put it on! This is my first "tombstone" polish and to be honest, the shape of the cap really made application much easier! Very ergonomic! And who could argue with the price? This was only $2.99 at London Drugs and only took two coats to reach high opacity! Maybe I'll sneak out again and grab another colour! And Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

Halloween Mini Haul

It's midterm time and after slaving away at an assignment all afternoon, I thought I deserved a little drug store treat! I've been seeing other bloggers rave about the Fantasy Makers collection by Wet  n Wild and when I finally saw the display at London Drugs, I was beyond ecstatic! Being in Canada, I feel like we get a left out of a lot really great products :-(

Today I picked up a glittery black nail polish with purple sparkles called "Purple Potion", a gorgeous red lipstick in "Geisha" and the Wicked Pair which came with a glow-in-the-dark nail polish and a black lipstick. The lipsticks were both pleasantly creamy and smooth in application and both had quite a punch of colour!

Geisha had so much colour!

At this rate, I'm never going to be able to study for midterms as I started experimenting and playing right away!

NOTW - Grey and Pink!

I have only just discovered the joys of doing my own nails after having to remove my gels a few months back in order to play violin again, but wow is it ever addicting! For this design, I really didn't know how it would turn out since it was my FA at trying out a "drip-like" effect. I have been trying to get some ideas for Halloween nails and I figured having a bloodily dripping nail would look pretty cool! My ring finger is probably the one that turned out the best while the others have made me realize that I can draw cartoon-like hair...

The background is furry because I used my cat for contrast ;-)

Colours Used:

China Glaze - Concrete Catwalk
OPI - You're a Pisa Work

If anybody has any tips on creating better, more 3D drips please let me know! All I used was a nail-dotting tool...

Shoppers Drug Mart Haul!

I couldn't think of a better way to christen a fresh, new blog than by sharing with you what I got from the Shoppers Drug Mart "Spend Your Points" event! Now, if you're like me, this is the coveted time I wait for to redeem my preciously hoarded Shoppers points!
I should probably add that it just so happened that when I went to Shoppers last Saturday, there was also this crazy Lancome GWP event so I ended up getting more goodies than I had expected!
Beauty Boutique Haul!
I was so excited when Shoppers started carrying Korres skincare products a little while ago as I have been quite pleased with their makeup in the past. And who wouldn't love using a paraben-free product that prides itself on its all natural and antioxidant containing ingredients!
Korres Skincare Sample Pack and White Tea Facial Fluid Gel Cleanser

The Lancome makeup bonus!

The Lancome skincare bonus!

I have been drooling over the Lancome Amethyst Glam 5 Pan Palette since last year and was so excited to finally have it to play with ;-)

I also picked up the new Doll Lashes mascara with the tapered brush that is supposed to always give the center of your lashes the most mascara.  It's also supposed to be really great at separating your lashes and reduce the dreaded mascara clump!

And finally, I picked up my very first Lancome lipstick (that did not come in a GWP). What I was most excited about were the magnets that kept the cap on!

Hopefully, I'll be able to post some reviews of all of the products in the next little while, but in the meantime, I hope you've enjoyed this debut post!
