GIVEAWAY | #TheGreatSheetMaskGiveaway

Well, hello there! I don't think I could ever top my #35SheetMaskGiveaway from last year, but maybe when I turn 40 I will do something similar! It has been a year since I shared some of my favourite masks with you and it is time again for another round of sheet mask sharing! One Cosmetic Proof reader will be winning 20 awesome sheet masks that will either make you glow or look like a tiger! As easy as this would be to run this giveaway on Instagram, the platform has been been a hard one to gain visibility for everyone I think so I'd rather this be on the interwebs so that more people have a chance of entering as this giveaway is open WORLDWIDE!

NAILS | Dots and Jagged Edges with the new CND Treasured Moments Collection! #CBBxManiMonday

Last Wednesday, I had the pleasure of joining the CND Canada team at Onyx Aesthetics in Gastown for another fabulous manicure to showcase the brand new Treasured Moments Collection for the fall season. I had originally wanted to do some nail art since I had the day off and had the time, but once I saw all of these luscious colours, I realized I wanted to play around on my own at home to see what I could come up with.

SHEET MASK | FaceTory Sun Bae Soothing Mask

I will be honest that I haven't gone out in the sun much this year. This whole summer I have pretty much worked and stayed inside since I feel like I don't spend that much time at home. I had a ton of plans to outfit the patio with summer chairs and tables at the end of June and while I did get the patio cleaned up, everything in June fell to the wayside when Hemingway got sick. Since then, my motivations for getting things done have gone downhill and while I wouldn't say I've been wallowing and doing nothing, my picturesque view of a carefree summer has been tainted and I will always think of "Summer 2019" as one of loss. Throughout all of this, there have been small joys with friends and thankfully beauty which will always be a source of enjoyment for me.

HAIR | Masking with Marc Anthony

Not only are sheet masks important to me, but hair masks are something I cannot live without! I use a hair mask twice a week and there are dire consequences if I don't! My hair just looks and feels so lackluster that I don't take the risk anymore. While I generally focus on hydration masks, I have been getting more and more into masks that also focus on volume and cleansing the scalp without drying out the rest of my hair (Christophe Robin mask I am talking to YOU!). While I do enjoy salon level hair care products, I have had some great luck with higher end drugstore brands one of which is a long time love of mine - Marc Anthony

NAILS | Cactus Makes Perfect #CBBxManiMonday

I will have to make this brief as I can barely keep my eyes open and have been struggling with fighting fatigue for the last couple of days just from having busy days at work with trying to cover for people who are either on vacation or sick.  Today I finally attempted some cactus nail art and looking at the design, I wish I had gone crazier and drawn them everywhere because they were quite fun to draw!

SHEET MASK | New Biotherm Aquasource Aura Water Jelly Sheet Mask #100DaysofSheetMasks

Biotherm has a new sheet mask and it's seriously a good one! The new Aquasource Aura Water Jelly Sheet Mask* is a hydrogel sheet mask containing 500,000 distilled droplets of medicinal aura leaf thermal water which, if you have been following Biotherm since Life Plankton Essence, is kind of their thing! Thermal water is supposed to contain some major skin healing and revitalizing properties because of the richness in minerals and in addition to taking your skin from zero to hero, does not contain artificial colouring, fragrance, parabens, alcohols, silicones (YAY!) or mineral oil!

MAKEUP | Mary Kay Timewise Matte 3D Foundation

You know what I have just noticed? It seems that I only have blog reviews for foundation every summer despite switching things up during the colder months as well. Maybe summer just feels like a good time to do it, but for the last 3 years that seems to be the trend for me so in keeping with old habits, here is my review for the new Mary Kay Timewise Matte 3D Foundation

HAIR | Oils for Shine, Hydration and Protection

I didn't understand who would ever need a hair oil until I became a blonde. Not only do hair oils make my hair look healthier, but it also helps protect it from heat styling and UV damage. They are almost like a liquid helmet and once I realized how necessary they were to my haircare routine, I went from high-maintenance to hair-maintenance achievement level SUPREME!

NAILS | I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream! #CBBxManiMonday

Today's manicure was inspired by one of the oldest and most well-known nail art bloggers around - Sarah from Chalkboard Nails! While browsing the #summernailart hashtag, I stumbled across these ice cream nails and realized it had been awhile since I had done some fun, cartoony nails. I won't lie that with all of the different colours, this manicure took about an hour of continuous painting to finish, but the results were worth it!

SHEET MASK | FaceTory Woah that H20 Hydrating Mask

I thought I had given up on subscription boxes until I finally gave in to FaceTory a year ago after spying their Instagram and website for months before taking the plunge to subscribe to the "7 Lux Box" for a full year! The subscription is not an inexpensive one at around $330 with the exchange rate, but it works out to about $4/sheet mask which is actually a great deal because almost all of the sheet masks I have gotten in these boxes range from $4-$8 and are hard to find. For most masks, I have really had to search Ebay or very specific Kbeauty sites and once I factor in the Canadian exchange and shipping, pricing ends up being more expensive so needless to say, I have LOVED my FaceTory subscription a lot!

HAIR | Kristin Ess Bubble Mask and Scalp Scrub

I exfoliate my skin like crazy, but I never thought about "detoxifying my scalp" since isn't shampoo supposed to do that? After watching a few Asian hair spa videos where part of the treatments actually include scalp scrubbings, I started looking into hair exfoliation products as it wasn't until I started colouring my hair and using dry shampoo more that I noticed my scalp felt itchy at times. I thought at first that my scalp was too dry, but then I realized it was more than that - it needed a good scrub! Then during a sale on Kristin Ess products on Well.ca, I saw two products that spoke to me: the Scalp Detoxifying Bubble Mask and the Instant Exfoliating Scalp Scrub! I mean, how GOOD do those sound?!

SUNSCREEN | Five New Sunscreens That Have Wowed Me!

How the hell are we in AUGUST right now? The summer feels like it has just begun and with this heat, I am totally feelin' the summer burn. I know it doesn't stay warm in Vancouver for very long so I should really be enjoying this, but the air has been feeling really heavy and muggy which I can't stand so I hope things lighten up a bit! This post has been a long time coming and now that we are in the throes of summer it seems a good a time as any to chit chat about some new (and maybe not so new) favourite sunscreens that I have been reaching for this season!

NAILS | Abstract Brights #CBBxManiMonday

Ssshhh, but I haven't actually painted my nails in two whole weeks! I had pre-planned all of my July posts in the first two weeks due to some fluke organization on my part, but this week I'm back to my Sunday night paint schedule and now that I am doing #100DaysofSheetMasks again, I need to make sure my time for beauty rituals and posting is a bit more spread out! This month, our theme is using the #summernails hashtag on Instagram to inspire us and it was this abstract nail art that caught my eye as I had never attempted such a "messy" manicure before and would give me an opportunity to use all of my favourite shades from this summer's CBD Prismatic Collection!
