Purchased by me
Happy New Year! 2025 feels like it came out of nowhere, but we made it to another year and I am glad to be able to experience another year trying to live my best life. At the end of this month is the Lunar New Year which means another round of #LunarJanuary meaning that I try to feature as many Asian brands as possible on the blog. My plan is to try and feature MORE cool sheet masks and different beauty products from Asia or Asian-owned brands, but as I am also trying to do do a low-buy this month I will be shopping my stash which quite frankly is large enough that it is almost like going out and buying stuff!
Aloe: Moisture and Calming
Calming yes, but even though this did contain aloe in the top half of the Essence was clear and watery with no tackiness upon removal, but I definitely needed moisturizer and eye cream on top. It also smelled like aloe!
In terms of mask fit, all four masks fit the same way with wrinkling at the chin area that I just could not smooth out. The mask material was soft and comfortable, but the fit was a bit distracting.
Carrot: Clear Skin
Carrot extract contains beta carotene which is an antioxidant and can help with improving elasticity, texture and age spots. This mask also contains brightening licorice root. This did not smell like a carrot if that's what anyone was wondering! It did not have much of a scent - and was just vaguely sweet. The essence was clear and watery and there was no tackiness left on my face after removal. However, I needed eye cream and moisturizer as I felt a bit dry a few minutes after I had removed the mask.
Blueberry: Vitality and Moisture
Blueberry extract is another antioxidant that helps with improving skin texture and redness as it is also an anti-inflammatory. This mask smelled slightly like blueberries and had a milky essence. This mask was not tacky upon removal and compared to all of the other masks, I did not feel the need for additional moisturizer.
Bamboo: Moisture and Fresh
What's great about bamboo extract? It helps with soothing the skin and is also an antioxidant able to fight against free radicals. The essence was clear and watery with a slightly sweet scent that reminded me a bit of tea. No tackiness upon removal, but I felt like my skin needed more moisture so I added two drops of Pelegrims Facial Serum Concentrate on top.
Final verdict: For the price, I'd say these masks are perfectly fine and even though they were not super hydrating on their own, I am someone who prefers to layer their skincare. I think I paid $2 each for these masks so even though they weren't perfect, I feel like I got my money's worth and would happily try out the other six masks that are part of this collection.
You can find the It's Skin Fresh Masks at various retailers and online Asian skincare stores all over as these are classic sheet masks!
