MAKEUP | MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Bronze Fusion in Shades 10M & 15I Review and Swatches

This was the season of bronzers and though this is a product that has been around for awhile, with the advent of sculpting and contouring, bronzers have come back with a vengeance ensuring that no cheekbone goes “unaccentuated”. Bronzers have traditionally been something I was afraid of screwing up, but with the varying finishes and formulations currently available, it seems like contouring is a feat achievable by even the average Joe (or Jayne!).

MAKE UP FOR EVER has made bronzing something to look forward to thanks to the relatively new Pro Bronze Fusion (11g/$42.00 CDN) coming in 6 shades of both matte and iridescent finishes. I received the shades 10M*, a natural matte honey, and 15I*, soft iridescent amber, both of which are for lighter skin tones. The other 4 shades are targeted for darker skin tones so anyone should be able to find a decent match. What makes these bronzers so different is the gel-powder formulation that seriously feels like I have put nothing on and yet, I have facial definition!

First thing’s first, what is the BEST way to apply this bronzer? Those gorgeous waves may look pretty, but there is a purpose to them! The grooves are quite deep so when I first tried applying a brush to the pan, the grooves pretty much dictated where the brush was going which made it feel like I wasn’t picking up any product. The key is to use your brush to apply the bronzer in a figure 8 pattern which includes going AGAINST the grain of the grooves. It is also recommended to apply this bronzer with the new 136 Pro Bronze Kabuki Brush* ($38.00 CDN) or something with a similar flat top.

The two shades are very natural in finish and have a finely milled texture making it akin to a second skin. They blend out beautifully and while I could have probably gone for a darker shade, I felt confidant in building up the intensity to one that made me feel like I was naturally glowing.

“Hi, cheekbones!”

If anyone is wondering what this glorious pink lippie is, it is a newer MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Colour in shade #21 Cool Candy Pink* ($29.00 CDN). At first I thought it would be way too pink, but once I put the gloss over top I had to OWN it! So much fun to wear!

Final verdict: This bronzer is wonderful for the faint of heart as I am all about inner luminosity and just looking ever so slightly sunkissed. A sweep along the cheekbones, along the sides of the jawline and around my forehead were more than enough to give me the look I wanted. The formulation is beautiful and I love that there are both matte and iridescent finishes available. I would have liked a little duo of one matte and one shimmery just because I know I’ll never use up either, but I guess there are some people who love their bronzers THAT much. The Pro Bronze Fusion is almost foolproof for application because the finish is just so natural and seamless. Swatch these at Sephora because I honestly don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
