When I was studying virology in my 4th year, I came across a virus I would never forget. It had a shape that I thought was so cool and caused an equally memorable infection. May I introduce you to rhabdovirus, the virus that causes rabies! Its known for its distinctive rod-shape and infects a broad range of hosts like insects, fish and mammals. Here is the prettiest diagram I could find and although I couldn’t fit all of this information on my nails, I hope you enjoy them anyway!
I started off with two coats of Barielle – U-Concrete-Me and then hand-painted each of the little rhabdoviruses with pink, purple and black acrylic paint. I even drew their little viral RNA! I then finished off with a coat of…you guessed it, China Glaze – Fairy Dust!
Hope you guys enjoyed Day 2 of the NNC!

DeleteI feel like virology would be a class that SOUNDS interesting, but I probably would have hated it. I definitely hated my one semester of micro! This is so fun though! I love how cutesie they are :)
ReplyDeleteIt was actually a super tough course because you had to memorize everything about each type of virus and their mechanism of action which were similar enough to each other to mix up the steps. Micro was fun for me, but so so hard especially immunology.
DeleteOMG these molecural nails are so amazing, love them and love your ideas! :D virology is wonderful, my master thesis was about influenza virus, for the conference where I was preseting my results I made nails with influenza M1 gene coding sequence on it by newspaper method, but yours are so much better! Such a great idea for mani, i'd like to recreate it some time :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, omg I wish I could have seen them! Those nails sound awesome!!
DeleteAdorable! I really love the base color, too.
