MAKEUP | Marcelle Rouge Xpression Velvet Gel Lipsticks - The Karine Vanasse Collection

I am far more familar with Marcelle from the skincare standpoint with my most enthusiastic review going back to 2012 when Marcelle was one of the first North American companies to debut a BB cream (review). I still use all of their BB, CC and DD creams on days when I just need some light coverage, but never went beyond skin when it came to Marcelle makeup. This is one of those times when if it weren't for a press package, I would never have discovered something new and AWESOME. Say hello to the Rouge Xpression Velvet Gel Lipsticks in five wearable shades!

This collection is collaboration with Quebecois actress, Karine Vanasse, hence the special packaging. The description "velvet gel" is perfect because that is seriously the only way I can describe how these lipsticks feel on the lips!

As you can see, they swatch beautifully and feel not quite like a cream, but almost like a smooth primer because of the touch of dimethicone in the formula. The two nude shades are the most neutral and give just a hint of something, but the other shades provide a wealth of colour!

Final verdict: Pink Blossom was probably the worst shade on me, blue and green hair aside, but Vivid Plum and Red Carpet have been the ones that I have been gravitating to the most. As much as I love these shades, I wish the wear time was a little bit longer as I found the colour wearing around the 3 hour mark, but I suppose in the non-matte lipstick world (yes, there was a time!) this is actually not bad at all!
