Christian Louboutin Rouge Stiletto Slimstick in Rosewood Love
Purchased by me

In addition the absolutely LOVELY Louboutin foundation (review) I picked up a few weeks ago, I also picked up a new lippie as I have been really into rosewood and nude shades. I know I have more than enough, but every brand has slightly different tones that make having multiple ones totally justifiable!

I have a few Louboutin lipsticks and lipglosses, but I did not have a lipstick with a more glossy finish which is why I was gravitated towards the Rouge Stiletto Slimsticks. I received a sample of a few shades and liked how they started off fairly shiny and dried down comfortably.

Coming in 12 shades, the vegan Rouge Stiletto Glossy Shines have sort of a melty texture that promises up to "6 hours of shine, 4 hours of colour impact and 12 hours of creaseproof wear". The formula includes Christian Louboutin's Glamlips Complex which include: smoothing hyaluronic acid, provitamin B5 and lotus flower extract to plump and smooth lips.

Of course, all of this is housed in the iconic Christian Louboutin stiletto heel in the signature red with even the cap having a wash of red on the inside. As much as I love looking at this packaging and how cool it is to hold and apply lipstick, I kind of hate that it has to lie down because my regular lipstick holders are just too basic for this b*tch.

At first I was confused by the logo on the lipstick and then I realized that of COURSE, this was the bottom of a Louboutin shoe! It doesn't stay very long though as I think after two uses it was gone. The formula is smooth and because of the initial shine does make the lips look more plump.

The instructions for application say to start at the cupid's bow of the lips and then pinch the lips together to spread the colour around followed by applying the lipstick to the rest of the lips. Due to how creamy this formula is, I'd say this is probably not a bad idea as without this method, I found I had to clean up the edges of the corners of my lips more.

Now, did this lipstick live up to all those claims? On me, I am sad to say, NO. I wear lipstick 95% of the time only to work so it needs to last through some wild temperature and humidity variations. We have AC on all the time, so the air is generally dry, but then because it's an old building that has massive windows, it can also get very humid and hot. It also needs to last through my morning coffee which I am so sad to say, this formula did not. The gloss disappeared and in a few hours the colour had faded too and my lips felt "empty" like the needed SOMETHING on them.

The thing is, I love the colour so much because it brings life to my makeup and is a brighter rosewood shade than the one I have from Dior. I will still wear this lipstick as it's $80, but more importantly, I love applying it in the morning and if I'm not at work it seems to be just fine. Like at home when I took this above photo, totally fine. It wore fairly evenly and I still had some colour on my lips by the end of the day.

Final verdict: Since I need my lipsticks to survive my work environment, I don't think I can justify picking up another one, but I have no regrets about buying this. I love it for the colour, the packaging, the experience and will continue to wear it, but have accepted its shorter lifespan when I am at my 9-5!
