This review is so incredibly overdue I can't even begin to explain myself. I picked up the reformulated Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation (30mL/$52.00 CDN) from the MUFE peeps in August last year when I was visiting Montreal. Yes, it has been that long, but that means I can safely say that I have been using this foundation quite a bit! The previous HD Foundation (review) was formulated to keep skin looking flawless under HD cameras. Now, HD is a thing of the past and 4K technology is the present so it made sense to reformulate for conditions that leave skin completely vulnerable to every flaw and imperfection!

What this foundation is all about is creating a flawless second skin for all skin types using hydrating hyaluronic spheres, for long-lasting wear, amino acid coated pigments to reflect and blur flaws and sericite, a finely milled pigment that adds light reflective properties to give the illusion of perfect skin. Man, the science of foundation!

I received the shades Y235*, Y245* and Y255* with Y235 being the equivalent of the shade #120 which was my previous HD formulation match. In total, there are a whopping 40 shades of this weightless and oil-free foundation so any skintones on the edges of the foundation spectrum should find a match.

I was curious to see the difference between this new formula and the old and to be honest, I needed a few tries of each to notice. This new formula IS indeed better in that it still has the same light to medium buildable coverage, but is lighter. More fluid.

I have fairly good skin and my main concerns are hiding the redness and broken capillaries on my cheeks. Like everyone else, I love a flawless finish that doesn't look cakey or unnatural which the Ultra HD Foundation provides. The photo below shows on the left, a bare face and the right with the Ultra HD Foundation.

You can see that I have some unevenness in my skintone as well as a bit of texture that the foundation evens out.

Final verdict: I like it! For a foundation that feels light and is quite fluid-like in texture, it has wonderful coverage. This foundation has the longevity that makes me feel fully confident in wearing it on a long day while its weightlessness makes me feel comfortable enough to throw it on like I do a BB cream or tinted moisturizer. If you prefer light to medium coverage, this foundation is embodies everything I would look for in a foundation (except for SPF) and I would totally recommend it. For those wanting higher coverage, this foundation also comes in a stick formula which I will review soon!
