So, I am watching @beautygeeks (Janine Falcon) one day and I see her apply these Kiss Falscara lashes super fast and then she tells me that these can last more than a day? Then after some research, I read that these can last up to 10 days without reapplication? Is this the temporary lash extension I have been looking for? YES. The answer is a resounding yes, but not without a tiny bit of trial and error!
Locally, London Drugs is the only place I could find Falscara, but the Kiss website does ship to Canada and has a lot more options when it comes to starter kits and the types of wisps to choose from. LD was having a 20% off sale for Kiss so I picked up the Starter Kit and the Overnighter, which is what will allow the 10 days to happen!
I used one L (12mm) on the outer lashline and then three Ms (10mm) in the middle and for the inner corner which looked the most natural. There is also a "Shorty" pack with an 8mm length which I think I would prefer for my face shape so I might pick that up later.
My first try with the lashes was clumsy and I ended up peeling them off and trying a second time when I had the day off and lots of sunshine to work in natural light. I curled my eyelashes which helped and then pulled my eyelid up so that the underside of my lashes was more visible. If you have a standing mirror, I would position it so that you can see the underside of your eye to apply the lashes hands-free. Note, that I did not need to curl my lashes, but if you have lashes that point downward, you might want to curl them.
Apply a very thin coat of the Bond and wait a few seconds before using the tweezers to apply the wisps juuuust away from your waterline and at the base of your natural lashes. I would start at the outer corner and work inward. If the wisps are applied too closely to the waterline, it will be itchy! The Bond is pretty sticky so once the wisps get close, it's a little like Velcro, but you can reposition if the wisps are not in the right position. Try to place the wisps very close to each other so that they almost form a band of lashes. This helps them look more natural and you won't have gaps showing between each section. This first one or two wisps will be finicky, but trust me, you will get the hang of it!
The glue on the lashes was also pretty intense so I ripped a set of short lashes. I wish the glue wasn't quite so strong!
Day 1 (April 14th): I applied the outer wisp on my left eye too close to my waterline so it is a bit uncomfortable/itchy. I can't really move it too much as I already used the Seal so we shall see whether my eye gets irritated or not. The short wisp on the inner corner of my left eye was applied a bit crooked and possibly a bit loose so it keeps shifting. Basically, the left eye was my first real attempt at applying the wisps so now I know what to do better.
Day 2 (April 15th): The outer wisp felt a bit better so I am guessing my lashes grew a little or this wisp moved a bit overnight. Lashes looked really good in the morning after applying a coat of overnighter the night before. I had a short shower and was super careful with my lashes, but after a full and active day meeting a client and going to the mall on a Saturday, the short wisp on my inner corner wasn't hanging on by much so I lifted it off with tweezers and re-bonded it after my shower.
Day 3 (April 16th): Looked really great all day until after I had a quick shower and I noticed that the wisp on the outer corner of my right eye was coming loose at the base. I pulled it off and re-bonded it. At this rate, I'm really not sure how many showers these will last!
Day 4 (April 17th): I had a longer shower at night as I had to wash my hair and I was very scared for the lashes! I did my best to keep the shower at a mild temperature as I tend to like my showers hot and I also used my hands to shield my eyes from getting water on them. I used a coat of Overnighter on each side and that seemed to make the lashes look better and more refreshed.
Day 5 (April 18th): The lashes still looked really good. I used one coat of Overnighter and the lashes seemed to come back to life! Had a bath that night and maybe it was a bit too steamy, but when I came out both outer wisps had lifted. I rebonded the right one and it seemed to look okay, but the left one refused to bond as the wisp was pretty "crunchy' with product.
Attempt #2 May 17th, 2023
The second attempt at wearing these Falscara lashes, I knew how to apply these lashes a bit better. Just like the first attempt, I applied them the day after freshly washed hair just to avoid having to wash my hair that same day and put the lashes through more steam and moisture than they needed. It was also quite warm, so I knew that my showers were going to be shorter and cooler than last month. Apologies for the Instagram story photos, but I wanted to grab photos of the lashes before going to work in the mornings and sometimes I was rushing out! One day, I just forgot to take a photo until I was at work going up the stairs hence the photo of me with an N95!
Day 2 - The other fairly major change I made with testing this time around was that I was no longer on staycation, but going to work so I have been using eyeshadow and having to remove makeup every night. I only used powder eyeshadow, no cream or long-wearing shadow, so that I did not need to use oil-based makeup remover at night. I only used Bioderma Sensibio to remove any eye makeup. It has definitely felt REALLY nice having my eyes ready to go each morning though sleeping has been a bit of a challenge as our bedroom gets quite bright now with the sun rising earlier and the only eye mask I have is one without "eye cups" so my sleep wasn't great as I did not want my lashes smushed!
Day 5 - I had a shower the night before as I really wanted to wash my hair. It has been warmer, so my shower was cooler than when I was taking showers last month and I made a point of facing away from the water whenever I could. Already, I can feel like this set at Day 5 is holding up better even though they are being "used" a lot more. and for the other days I have been applying one coat of Overnighter just before bed.
Tips for how to make Falscara lashes last 10 days in a row?
- Apply the wisps the day of/after you have washed your hair to reduce the amount of steam exposure
- Apply the Overnighter after every shower and press lashes together
- Have shorter and cooler showers
- Don't get wisps wet
- Don't use cream eyeshadows
- Don't use oil-based makeup removers
- No stomach sleeping!
Final verdict: I think it is pretty obvious that I LOVE these and feel like Falscara has been the perfect solution for someone like me who loves the idea of lash extensions, but not the time and effort of actually getting them done and of course the cost. Though I wish more the lash options were available through Canadian retailers, London Drugs does consistently stock them. I loved being able to get an eye look ready for work in under 2 minutes and as silly as this sounds, I loved feeling pretty despite wearing a mask as I feel like my eyes get really lost when I wear one. I know there are other products like this, but the price, longevity and quality of Falscara has me so impressed I don't even know if I want to try anything else!
