Top 12 Nail Polishes of 2012!

Although the idea isn’t anything particularly new, I’ve never done one of these posts before. I figure, if I’m sitting here reflecting on notable events of 2012 I should mention the nail polishes that have made an impression on me. To some, it may sound superficial how much nail polish is a part of my life, but I consider nail art to be a true hobby of mine and every artist needs a medium and canvas. Nail polish and nails are mine and for many of you. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that nail polish is not only fun and fashionable, but therapeutic in its uses as well. I should add that not all of the nail polishes chosen were released in 2012, so here’s to my favourites of 2012!

Day 1–Red Nails: Nerd Lacquer - Warrior Ethos

Today marks the first day of the 31 day nail challenge and I still cannot believe I am doing it. I just hope I am disciplined enough to keep at it! What better way to start than with a powerful and motivational polish called Warrior Ethos by Nerd Lacquer. I always feel a little sad when I wear one of Amanda’s creations…this was one of the first indie brands of nail polish that were available through Etsy and was my first indie polish purchase. I figured I’d start off slow for Day 1 and not do any nail art just yet. Warrior Ethos is also just so gorgeous that I couldn’t possibly combine it with anything else! This is a marvellous red jelly with black and silver micro and hex glitter. The black hex glitter was the hardest to get and the few pieces that you see are from fishing. This is just two coats for full opacity.

Nerd Lacquer–Regeneration

Hi Ya’ll!

Today I have another one of Amanda’s lovely polishes to share with you! I haven’t worn one of her creations in awhile, but now it seems she has disappeared…she said she had a lot of personal things going on her life a few months back so I hope she’s ok and will come back to the polish world soon! Regeneration is interesting because it’s an orange glitter with small and medium gold hex glitter, but isn’t too flashy. It’s actually quite warm and neutral. I just didn’t think I could really say that about orange glitter! This is 3 coats of Regeneration and OTD Topcoat as my VNL was still showing with 2 coats. I think it’s another Nerd Lacquer winner for me!

NerdLacquer – Cyance Friction

Hi!

Sorry, I meant to post yesterday, but I got too involved in Game 4 LA Kings vs Vancouver Canucks last night and I was just too tired to post! Combined with the fact that I had a TWO HOUR massage, the only thing I was good for was sleep! I’m happy our boys have staved elimination and live to see one more game!

Today I bring to you a colour that I think a lot of people really liked from my last NerdLacquer haul and it is just the most wonderful glitter teal! God, I love nail polish! It has copper and blue micro-glitter, square blue glitter and hexagonal copper glitter. I couldn’t seem to get any of the larger glitter chunks of my nails with just the polish brush. Maybe I’ll go fishing for glitter next time. Ack, just gorgeous! This is two coats plus topcoat.

My NerdLacquer Collection is Almost Complete!

Hello my dears!

I managed to snag the last five colours that I REALLY REALLY wanted from NerdLacquer and upon lining them up, I realized that I bought a NerdLacquer rainbow! The colours are gorgeous and unique as always and I can’t wait to see what else Amanda comes up with once her shop opens up again!

Nerd Lacquer – Beggar’s Canyon

Hi hi!

Today I’m wearing Nerd Lacquer’s Beggar’s Canyon which has a gold base containing both bronze and purple micro and hex glitter. You wouldn’t expect a purple glitter in a polish of this colour which is why Nerd Lacquer really stands out! It’s a beautiful colour and is one that I can see myself wearing again in the summer.

More Nerd Lacquers!

Hello!

Look what arrived in the mail! Now that Nerd Lacquer has really taken off, I keep trying to get as many of Amanda’s polishes as possible before she has to close up her Etsy shop to fulfill orders. As an FYI, her shop is now open and it looks like there is plenty of stock so get your Nerd Lacquers while you can! I’m sure these polishes need no introduction as they have been a nail community favourite for the last couple of months now. All three of these polishes look amazing as usual and I hope to show swatches of these soon! I should slow down the nail polish hauling because I can’t get to them quick enough!

Nerd Lacquer Swatch – ”It’s Just a Flesh Wound”

Hi Everyone!

I guess it's about time I started wearing some of these Nerd Lacquers since I bought 10...this was yet another wonderful polish. I have three thin coats although I could have stopped at two, but kept going because I wanted the black to be bit darker. This is a beautiful black jelly with red and silver glitter. I let the bf pick this one out to wear and he chose well! I've had a lot of compliments on it and was again so impressed with how unique and easy this colour was to work with.

Pssst, my cat wouldn't move out of the way! He kept walking into the shot so that's why the background looks VERY white ;-)

Nerd Lacquer Series: "Crunchy Frog" Swatch

Helloooo!

So, this is Crunchy Frog! First of all, what an incredibly appropriate name for such a cool-looking nail polish! What I love about this polish (and I suspect a lot of the Nerd Lacquers) is that there isn't another nail polish like it! Dupes are not a possibility and if there are, Amanda has done it first! What I've got on is just 2 coats and was super easy to apply with the glittery goodness being deposited in just the right amounts. This is a great polish that everyone should grab!

Nerd Lacquer is Here!

Hi Girls!

For those of you who haven't heard of Nerd Lacquer yet, go check it out here! Amanda has been so busy with filling orders the last few weeks that her shop is closed now so she can get orders out, but you can always sign up to be notified of when her shop is open again. So, I picked up six colours and then Amanda included "Lento" as a way of saying "sorry for taking so long to ship", but really it wasn't that long at all! Lento looks like a great glitter though and I can't wait to try it on!

Aaaaah, I really can't wait to wear these and show them off!

NOTW - Purple

As part of my Wet 'n Wild Halloween Haul last week, I picked up a beautiful sparkly purple polish that I loved the moment I put it on! This is my first "tombstone" polish and to be honest, the shape of the cap really made application much easier! Very ergonomic! And who could argue with the price? This was only $2.99 at London Drugs and only took two coats to reach high opacity! Maybe I'll sneak out again and grab another colour! And Happy Thanksgiving Canada!
