I hate how inconsistent I have been about #SheetMaskSunday, but motivation has been hard to come by the last month. I wake up in love with the IDEA of happily blogging the day away, but then I start getting caught up with other things to do and let's face it, there is ALWAYS something else to do and lately my focus has been on going to Paris for work. It has consumed much of my mental space preparing as the trip is quite jam-packed, but thankfully I just need to follow the brand's itinerary and I will be good!

This year has not been a great one for my skin with getting shingles on the left side of my face at the start of the year and then getting what I suspect is some sort of fungal infection in one tiny spot on my face. You would never even know it's anything, but it's about 6mm across and is just a red spot. I am still in the process of treating it because fungal infections are notoriously hard to get rid of, but I don't even know where it came from. I use a makeup sponge/brushes all over my face, but it just seems to be in one spot. In the weeks leading up to Paris, my lips have also started to freak out. This used to happen to me years ago whenever I got stressed. The edges of my top lip would get really red, itchy and dry and then after about 2 weeks, would start to get better. For the last month, my lips have been intermittently doing this to the point where I thought I was getting cold sores, but then I didn't get the classic blistering and scabbing. Suffice it to say, I haven't been able to commit to sheet masking every day as my skin has had its ups and downs. I am hoping that after Paris and my nerves have died down that my body will relax and not want to attack itself.

These two masks from Korean brand 16 Brand were supposed to be part of my summer series, but I stopped when I noticed the weird red spot on my face and started a course of topical medication. Both masks were actually quite fun and cool to use and felt like really good quality!

Marine Collagen Shower*
16 Brand Marine Collagen Shower Mask and Kelp Mask Pack

What makes this mask special? Firstly, the packaging is very eye-catching and it looks like I am going to be applying the ocean to my face with ingredients like hydrolyzed collagen, kelp, spirulina, ceylan moss and pearl extract! This mask promises a ton of hydration and plumping thanks to "volumizing essence" that doesn't drip!

16 Brand Marine Collagen Shower Mask and Kelp Mask Pack

16 Brand Marine Collagen Shower

Mask Summary:

Price: $2 USD

What it does: Hydrates, brightens, firms and calms

Scent: Very faintly floral. Barely noticeable.

Essence Type: Thick, clear jelly so NO DRIPPING!

Duration: 30 minutes, but could easily have gone for longer because the essence was so thick!

Thickness: Thin

Mask Fit: Some wrinkles, but the mask did not budge since the essence was essentially like glue. The mouth was a bit small though so you feel like you have to keep your mouth closed which I guess isn't a bad thing if you are sheet masking!

Tackiness: Light/medium

Hydration: Really nice! I didn't even remember I hadn't applied any moisturizer on top!

Other notes: One of those sheet masks packets that has an easy-peel opening at the corner so no ripping or scissors required!

Kelp Mask Pack*

16 Brand Marine Collagen Shower Mask and Kelp Mask Pack

What makes this mask special? This mask contains kelp extract, snail extract, pearl extract and sea water! Another ocean on your face!

16 Brand Ocean Toks Kelp Mask Pack

Mask Summary:

What it does: Hydrates and makes skin radiant!

Scent: Light, powdery scent. Not my favourite, but it was subtle enough that it didn't annoy me.

Essence Type: Lightly viscous and clear. A total opposite from the first mask!

Duration: 25 minutes

Mask Fit: Very nice!

Tackiness: Light

Hydration: Really good! Again, I didn't even remember I hadn't applied any moisturizer on top!

Other notes: None

16 Brand Marine Collagen Shower Mask and Kelp Mask Pack

Final verdict: Though I preferred the Kelp Mask Pack to the Marine Collagen Shower Mask mainly due to the lighter essence, I thought both masks were solid in terms of hydration and ingredients. The mask material and fit rivalled those of high end masks (maybe even better) and I liked the packaging. The "plumping essence" of the Marine Collagen Shower Mask was quite fun as jelly masks like this are a great way to get a ton of hydration without the drips!

Sadly, these masks seem really hard to find and I have only been able to locate the Kelp Mask at https://www.chosungahbeauty.com!
