I was trying to feature mainly Canadian brands last month as it was Canada Day on July 1st, but I didn't have time to feature all the brands I wanted to so I am turning this into #CanadianSummer to keep the love going! Today we are featuring once more Quebec-based BKIND (see my previous BKIND review here) and their Moisture and Nourish Hair Mask!

I use a hair mask every time I wash my hair because colouring it over the last 10 years as made my already dry and coarse hair even MORE dry and coarse and hair masks at least put it back to "fairly touchable".

What makes this hair mask special? One of the most interesting things about this mask is that the first ingredient is aloe vera as most hair masks are water-based with the first ingredient being water. This makes the formula even more hydrating and a more expensive one to produce. It also contains a natural biolipid complex composed of phospholipds and glycolipids that coat and smooth the hair and shea butter, wheat germ oil and macadamia seed oil just to name a few if the nourishing ingredients!

While this mask comes at the luxury price of $66 CDN, even with long hair, I only use about a quarter sized amount since I only use it on the bottom half of my hair as this girl is RICH. I was scraping the lid for the first few uses and only started using what was in the actual tub recently! As much I as hate scooping things out while in the shower, with this mask being more expensive, a tub ensures that I use every last drop!
The scent is fruity and smells like watermelon and cucumber which I am actually not a huge fan of. I prefer my hair masks to smell more floral or citrus, but that's just me. Ideally, this mask should be left on the hair for 5-10 minutes which in the shower is tough as I don't like leaving the water on for that long so 5 minutes is what I end up doing as I leave it on while doing my second cleanse, body wash, exfoliating or leg shaving. I think if I was able to do the full 10 minutes, my hair would be even softer!

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Aqua, Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Polyglyceryl-3 Betainate Acetate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Lactic Acid*, Phospholipids, Natural Aroma, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Glycolipids, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Lactitol, Xylitol, Maltodextrin, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Gluconate.
*Note that the lactic acid present in this formula is not used for its role of exfoliation (alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA)), but to adjust the pH of the formula.

Final verdict: What is interesting about this mask is that I feel like initially, my hair is soft and tangle-free which isn't something novel, but what IS different is that since I have been using it, I find that after drying and styling, my hair style last an extra day? Like is that possible? I am also finding my scalp less itchy than usual especially on Day 3 of no-wash hair where I'm usually dying to wash my hair so for me, I experienced much delayed gratification!
