MAKEUP | Dior Addict Lacquer Sticks with Lip Swatches

As much as I am now into satin and matte finishes, I entered the makeup world only knowing of glosses and LOVING THEM. The shinier the better. I remember carting around a clear glitter-filled lip gloss all through my early university years and using it as a top coat for neutral lipsticks. One guy in my Integral Calculus class (MATH 105 at UBC baby!) was staring at my lips and asked how I got them to look so big. I pulled out the tube and told him my glossy secret. And no, we didn't end up dating, but we are still friends!

The old version of the revamped Dior Addict Ultra Gloss was my very first high end lip gloss purchase. I figured that since this was my everyday makeup staple, I should invest! 10 years later, Dior is still managing to wow me with the new Dior Addict Lacquer Sticks ($43.00 CDN)! They look like a lipstick, but once this formula hits your lips, transforms into a liquid shine with an intense saturated colour! Coming in 18 shades, there is something for everyone in here, even those of us who like to experiment.

Like any Dior product, packaging is sleek, shiny and yes can be a challenge to photograph because shiny finishes and fingerprints don't mesh well, but I don't think any of us beauty lovers get tired of looking at all things Dior.

The formulation on these guys is Barry White smooth...pigmentation is just as promised and does not feel heavy at all for colour that packs so much punch!

Tease* looks great in these photos, but I don't know how comfortable I am with wearing something so baby pink in real life. I should test this shade around the house one day just to see how I feel. I think it would be perfect for when/if I become blonde again. For now no...I'm going to be doing something a little crazy next month ;-)

Turn Me Dior*
is a bright raspberry red that would suit most skin tones and is a fun and happy Spring colour. Love this one!

Sassy*
was my favourite! I love fuchsia-based lip colours like this one and have been wearing this easily to work. I love that it's bright without being dramatic like reds. I feel like everyone stares at you when you wear a red lipstick.

Sauvage*
was the most dramatic of the four shades I received and was the hardest for me to apply. I had some issues with patchiness and losing colour in the middle of my lips when I tried to use a lip brush to even out the colour distribution. It's a beautiful shade, but is a bit too fussy for me.

Final verdict:
I love glossy, pigmented neutrals so Lazy is now on my list as well as more fuchsias like Diabolo which is currently in my Sephora cart. Wear time is 2-3 hours because well, glossy finish, and the product does transfer because well, glossy finish. It's just the way the cookie crumbles with glosses, but the fact that I don't have to layer a lipstick and a gloss to get the effect that these Lacquer Sticks give all at once is what makes me happiest.
