Doesn't the Mary Kay Light, Reinvented collection summarize everything your brain knows as "Spring"? This limited edition collection has got its pinks, pastels and then a wee bit of drama. Of course, I had to try the nail polishes first (here) so now it's time for the face stuff!
Pastels are tough to pull off with my Asian skintone so some items in this collection were not the best, but that certainly didn't stop me from experimenting! The two new Eye Color Palettes in Glistening Horizon* and Sunlight* ($26.00 CDN each) are of similar quality to previous Mary Kay eyeshadows I have reviewed in that they are both pigmented and buildable. I found the colour choices in each palette to be quite complimentary to each other.
Glistening Horizon is definitely not a neutrals palette, but I loved the look of all four shades together as well as that striking bright shimmery blue.
Sunlight is super pretty, but it is only the pink and orange shades I would really use as they look the most interesting. The lilac shade looked a bit chalky on me which when there are only four colours is 25% of the palette so that's not good makeup math in my books, but I feel like the boldness of the pink and orange may be enough to make up for the lilac for some.
Ah, the brand new Glossy Lip Oils in Brilliant Violet*, Sheer Pink* and Magenta Ray* ($19.00 CDN)! Infused with grapeseed oil, these are basically lip glosses with a non-sticky, high shine finish. I am more familiar with lip oils as a treatment with a slight tint and would never have referred to these as lip oils on my own, but they do have a nice glide to them that is reminiscent of an oil. Magenta Ray was the only shade out of the three that looked good on me with Sheer Pink being the worst. It did not go well with my skintone at all which I was sad about, but thought you all should see anyway.
I also thought I'd try to put together a fun festival eye makeup look while doing some lip swatches and though this was fun to wear, I don't know how often I will be looking like this.
