September 2012 Glossybox

I should have been really really excited about September’s Glossybox, but alas, I already had the most loved item in the box! So, if I didn’t already have this item, I definitely would have been just as excited as everyone else because overall it was a pretty snazzy Glossybox! I’m sad that the price is going up though to $21 as it seems a little much for what we’re getting now so I’m *hoping* this means the products in each box will be of higher quality. We shall see!

Wella Professionals Mirror Polish Shine Spray

DSCF4336

Illuminate your style with exquisite shimmer.

Thoughts: I use shine sprays everyday after I straighten my hair so this product was very well-suited to my hair habits. One thing I really liked about the packaging was the glass bottle! There is always something so luxurious about a glass bottle!

Full size: 40mL/$12.99

I received: *FULL SIZE*

B.Kamins Maple Body Lotion and Lip Balm SPF 20

DSCF4338

A luxurious anti-aging lotion infused with honey, vitamins A & E and Bio-Maple Compound for ultimate hydration.

A soothing anti-aging lip balm with Bio-Maple Compound and UVA/UVB sunscreens that repairs and protects.

Thoughts: Very cool! I have always wanted to try this Canadian brand, but never really knew where to start! I guess I was expecting both of these products to smell like maple because of the Bio-Maple compound, but as it turns out this compound is actually an anti-oxidant derived from maple trees. The scent is still sweet, but it smells more like honey. Both sound like lovely products to try!

Full size: Lotion – 180mL/$41.00 and Lip Balm – 0.5oz/$21.00

I received: Lotion – 12mL/$2.73 and Lip Balm – 0.13oz/$5.46

Dove Cleartone

Thoughts: I don’t use anti-perspirant so this product will be lost on me and be given to someone who does. Too bad though, it’s a great little sample size!

Full size: 45g/$4.99 (Let’s be generous and take the higher value)

I received: 17g/$1.89

NYX Cosmetics Crimson Amulet Collection Palette

DSCF4341

Thoughts: I purchased and reviewed this palette back in June and loved it so if I didn’t already own it, I would be over the moon! I ended up selling mine to someone who is enjoying it VERY much :) My favourite items in this palette were the blushes, eyeliner and lip glosses. The eye shadows were okay, but some had fallout which lowered my overall impression of the palette.

Full size: $25.00

I received: *FULL SIZE*

Total Value of Glossybox: $48.07

I know the Crimson Amulet palettes are discounted to around $10 now, but overall this was a great Glossybox and even though the deodorant and palette were a miss for me, I do love the other three products so September’s Glossybox was a hit for me!

  1. Definitely looks like one of their best boxes! A nice mix of makeup, skin and hair.. it's funny actually when I saw the first reviews come up on Sept. Glossybox and I saw that palette my first thought was "oh that's to bad that Jayne just bought that palette" haha oh well!

    1. I'm not sure either now...I love the surprise, but I have a wedding to plan and I don't know if the extra money will be worth it. I think I'll at least stay for the December box, but in the new year who knows?

    2. Do you have a wedding date set yet? :)

    1. I love the little things that make you love a product that much more!

  4. They changed their price on everyone? That's really lame. I was planning to try them out when I got a new job, but I wouldn't pay that much every month!

    1. For those who are currently subscribed we get one more month at the old price...that's it...the pricing will now be equal to the American box :(

  5. $21 is pretty steep but I am hoping that this would make the product quality of the boxes go up, I don't mind paying but I better get my monies worth :)

    1. Exactly. The American boxes are quite a bit better and have more products so if our boxes resemble theirs, then fine I'll happily pay $21!

    2. 100% agree, if I am getting burberry lipstick, Illamasqua nail polish, full sized BB cream, you will not hear many complaints from this chick

    3. I read on Lesley's blog (petite pear style) that the boxes will not be the same...so it doesn't look like we'll be getting what the US are getting which bites!

  6. Hi Jayne,
I am a new follower from the friends to followers hop. I'm looking forward to your nail posts. I love having beautiful nails and usually I need to do them for two reasons: cost and I play piano. Most nail salons don't want to get my nails as short as I like for the piano. If you like photography, you should check out my blog. Esther Norine Designs

    1. I know what it's like to have short nails as I play the violin although right now I'm not because of the nail challenge!

  7. Good stuff in there! I feel like I should invest in shine spray, what's the best one?

    1. Hmmmm...before this Glossybox I've been using both the Morroccanoil Glimmer Spray and the AG Moisture Shine (?) which have been pretty good for my hair especially after straightening.

  8. Glossy box lost it's value to me as soon as they started shoving the same old brands down our throats. To those who were subscribed from the very start, I think I can say we tried the whole Wella Line. I still get glossyboxes, but I don't think it deserves my time to blog about anymore. I'm definately cancelling after my october box. I don't think the value will reflect the price hike.

    1. I hear ya, we have been seeing A LOT of Wella! I will give the Glossybox until the end of the year and I will re-evaluate in December whether I'd want to continue.
