I am brand new to the concept of Guerlain’s Meteorites. I have never had the long illustrious love affair that many beauty lovers have had with it and I am currently surrounded by much literature about what it all means, but from what I gather, it all started in 1987 when Guerlain came up with a loose powder in the form of multi-coloured pearls that made skin appear luminous without looking overdone. This concept gave rise to primers, powders, blushes and now a sheer foundation infused with the same “meteorific” glow. Meteorites Baby Glow* ($60.00 CDN/30mL) is a “light-revealing sheer makeup anti-fatigue effect glow” that acts as a luminous veil on the skin while evening out and unifying the skin’s complexion. I love that there is SPF ready to go in this formulation and I am grateful that my skin isn’t one to react to SPF as I know a number of friends who are quite sensitive to it.
I received the colours #2 Light and #3 Medium. Even blended out, I felt that Medium was a touch too dark for me as my neck was definitely a Light. I feel like there should be a shade #2.5 because the difference between Light and Medium seems drastic. There is a #4 Dark for those darker-skinned gals, but I find it hard to believe that three shades cover the entire spectrum of skin colour.
One of the things that sets Guerlain apart from other brands is their signature floral scent. I am all about fragrance, but I found it to be almost overwhelming at times as it lingered even an hour after application.
I wasn’t sure how this would feel on my skin in terms of BB cream or classic foundation, but I literally went from looking like a “she-dragon” to having bright, luminous-looking skin! This leaned definitely more to the classic foundation in terms of coverage, but felt weightless. My skin tone is pretty uneven around my cheeks and I have a lot of darkness around my eyes that needed some help. I am wearing NO other makeup other than Baby Glow.
Final Verdict: Well, colour me impressed. The term “sheer” really applies to how this FEELS on the skin as opposed to coverage. Up close, there was no cakiness (see my Spring Guerlain look here also using Baby Glow) and other than the scent, I had all but forgotten it was on my face. I LOVED how my skin looked so much healthier and HUMAN with Meteorites Baby Glow on. The hyperpigmentation along my chin was immediately evened out and I just cannot believe how “anti-fatigued” I looked! Foundation is like skincare to me in terms of importance so $60 for foundation that makes me look 10 years younger? Sign me up!
P.S. I would also like to add that my husband just saw this before and after and the look of aghast on his face for the BEFORE photo was pretty priceless. He said I looked so much older and asked if “this was what I get to look forward to now that we’re married?” Till death do us part babe.
