MAKEUP LOOK | MAC Cosmetics Bao Bao Wan Veluxe Pearl Fusion Shadow Review & Swatches

MAC,  you need to stop with these limited edition releases. There is a reason why I never used to even peruse the MAC counters because of releases like the MAC Toledo Collection, Cinderella and now Bao Bao Wan. Bao Bao Wan is HUGE in Asia which is why this collection jumped out at me right away because I’m Asian hence the colours MUST work for me, right? The Bao Bao Wan collection has some stunning lipsticks and nail lacquers, but today we’re going to feast our eyes on the Veluxe Pearl Fusion Shadow*($52.50 CDN), that is all shimmer baby! I had fun with this one fo sho!

The packaging features a matte black/dark green shimmer edging with a clear window to enable proper eye candy drooling. The lid is also magnetic.

Ah, the swatches. With the exception of the first rose pink shade that even primer couldn’t save, the rest of the shades were GORGEOUS. Very glittery though and there was quite a bit of fallout despite the actual butteriness of the shadows. Do your foundation after your eye makeup if you can.

This was my attempt at looking Bao Bao Wan sexy. I think I need to get rid of the turtleneck and then some to pull it off.

L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte 24HR Foundation in 103 Natural Buff*

Brows:

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow in Medium/Dark

Eyes:

Starting with the center bronze shade of the Veluxe Pearl Fusion Shadow*, apply that all over the lid. Taking the gold shade, pat this shade just in the center of the lid. Next, using a fluffy brush apply the darkest brown shade to the outer V of the lid and bring into the crease.

For the lower lash line, apply the sparkly blue shade with a smudge brush in patting motions to reduce glittery fallout. Add a little bit of sparkle into the inner corner of the eyes with the gold shade.

Line the lower waterline with MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes in 21L Dark Grey* (review)
Line the upper lash line with Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black and apply Lancome Grandiose Mascara*.

Apply fluttery lashes like these ones from Shu Uemura in Black V.

Cheeks:

Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette making sure the highlighter shade was right on top of my cheekbones.

Final Verdict: This palette is all about the glitter and I know that right away, this is going to be a turn-off for some people. My favourite shades were the blue, dark brown and bronze shades mainly for their pigmentation. There was so much fall out from the actual “brushing” motions that I wasn’t sure if I could make this palette work, but patting motions served to be most helpful when dealing with all the glitteriness that is this palette. If you aren’t a die hard MAC lover, I don’t think you need to rush out and get this palette, but if you are OR love lots of glitter you’ll have your fun with this palette fo sho.
