MAKEUP | Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick Swatches

Urban Decay has been doing some serious releases this year and with the opening of a standalone store in Vancouver this Saturday, I am happily realizing how much I have always loved the brand and its products. I remember seeing the Urban Decay nail polishes in the pages of Seventeen Magazine almost 20 years ago and hoping that one day I would be able to own just one thing from Urban Decay. Fast forward to becoming an adult and now having my own "inventory" of Urban Decay must-haves. This is when "adulting" is awesome. While their eyeshadows were always and always will be my favourite product, the new Vice lipsticks (review soon), as well as these limited edition Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipsticks* ($21.00 CDN) of the same formula, are quickly moving up my makeup hierarchy!

Inspired by Disney's Alice Through the Looking Glass, the packaging on each lipstick case is a colourful kaleidoscope which I honestly thought made the product look very inexpensive...

Composed of three different finishes (Metallized, Comfort Matte and Sheer Shimmer), all five lipsticks are very diverse in colour to represent the characters. The worse performing shade was the metallized "Time", a sheer navy blue, that I thought would be super pigmented, but turned out to be far more sheer with my own natural lip colour showing through. All of the other shades performed very well with "Iracebeth" (on lips) and "Mad Hatter" being my favourites.

The comfort matte finish of Iracebeth was quite comfortable and of course hella pigmented. "Mad Hatter" looked darker in the tube and though it had a great finish as a metallized lipstick, this light purple makes my teeth look SO YELLOW. If you see me wearing it, I probably won't be smiling much. "Mirana" is going to be great for the coming Fall season if I can summon the courage to wear it!

Final verdict: The biggest disappointment was the shade "Time", but I found winners with "Iracebeth", "Mad Hatter" and "Mirana"! These guys are pigmented and last a solid couple of hours. They do transfer a little while eating, but it was nothing to be too concerned about.
