Sol de Janiero Brazilian Joia Set and Bum Bum Cream

Purchased by me

I feel like I have been writing this Sol de Janeiro post for the entire day, but when I look at the clock it has only been about 2 hours. I think because I woke up at the regular work time on my day off and then proceeded to do some stuff for my day job for like four hours which was way longer than I had expected, but I feel a bit better now going into tomorrow that I have gotten some the things on my very long to do list done!

I resisted getting Sol de Janeiro for awhile because it seemed super trendy (still is to some degree) and very expensive for just a moisturizer. Finally, during one of the VIB Rouge events, I caved and got myself a little sampler and some Bum Bum Cream and then rest is history! I get it now!

Shampoo and Conditioner

Firstly, these mini bottles have the cutest packaging! They have a matte finish making them fun to pick up from a tactile perspective and even the buttons to press to open the bottles is so cutely done! After enjoying the fragrance of the Bum Bum Cream so much, I decided to pick up a holiday set containing some mini haircare that had the same Cheirosa '62 scent (a blend of pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla). The Brazilian Joia Shampoo and Conditioner are sulfate-free, colour-safe, bond-repairing and weightlessly hydrates hair. Colour-safe is something I always try to look for now, but generally I have found that most shampoos and conditioners are fairly gently and it's only if I am blonde that I would really want to stick to specific haircare products.

If having a shower is therapy for you, like it is for me, scents of things are very important and both the shampoo and conditioner smelled deliciously like Cheirosa '62, but only a hint of it remained in my hair after everything was rinsed out. Both products had a very creamy texture and my coarse hair felt very soft even without a hair mask. This might be a bit heavy for those with fine hair compared to my coarse and porous hair.

Brazilian Crush Fragrance Mist

I guess the Sol de Janiero people knew we would not be able to get enough of the Cheirosa '62 scent so this hair and body mist is pretty perfect to keep that sweet scent going! The mist is fairly lightweight and smells concentrated so if I am spritzing my hair, I only do two sprays as my porous hair retains scent quite well. I also see a little product note on the Sephora website that this can be used on lingerie as well! Ooh la la!

Rio Radiance Cream and Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

Originally, I wasn't going to review these two body creams, but they have been too good to me this summer to not talk about! I first picked up the mini version of the infamous Bum Bum Cream just to see if I would like it and yes, I DEFINITELY loved it! If you haven't tried any "tub" products from Sol de Janiero, you should even just for how goddamn satisfying their lids are! They have such thick and grippy lids that even if your hands are covered in product, the lid/tub will not be slipping out of your hands anytime soon! As for the actual body cream, it is super hydrating, creamy, but isn't the least bit greasy. It does have a fairly intense Cheirosa '62 fragrance so you will not need any perfume if you apply this to your whole body!

The Rio Radiance Cream was one I picked up earlier this year thanks to a Favourites video from Tati (yes, I still watch her to remember the reasons I started watching Beauty Yotubers all those years ago) mainly because of the presence of mica in the cream so that I could get a little bit of a summer glow. It is also apparently a limited edition containing the scent Cheirosa '87 which is a blend of solar tuberose, leite de coco and vanilla all of which are meant to remind us of summer on the beach. The scent is not quite as sweet as Cheirosa '62, but still fairly strong and lasts upon application. The mica is also very subtle and really just gives skin a hint of glow.

Final verdict: The haircare I did like, but it will probably be awhile before I repurchase as I still have so much haircare to review and the body creams are a definite repurchase! The only sad thing about the body creams I love so much is that the scent is too strong for my husband's nose and he starts to sneeze which is so disappointing! I am hoping that in the winter when the air isn't quite so "heavy and humid" that it will be better because he only commented on it last month when I wore Rio Radiance.
