I have often said that I am incredibly lazy in the mornings so when it comes to my makeup routine, as much as I would love to do an incredibly complex, multicoloured look, I generally end up using 1-2 shades and that's it which is why eyeshadow sticks have become such an essential part of my makeup routine. I have used many different brands over the years and certainly have my favourites so when one of my FAVOURITE beauty brands, Dior, released the Diorshow Flash Eyeshadow Sticks, I immediately picked up a few to try!
Touted to have a smooth, ultra glide texture, vibrant, waterproof colour with 24 hour wear time, these can be worn alone or as an eyeshadow base to enhance a powder or glitter eyeshadow, which is my preferred method of use! They can also be used for targeted highlighting around the eyes and come in both satin and shimmer shades (obviously I am all about the shimmers!).
I always wear browns so I had to pick up Beige Mitzah and then for Fall I thought Rosewood Tulle would be pretty. Celestial Star was a bit of a surprise as it turned out to have this very unique blueish, iridescent sparkle that I thought would be so pretty on the inner corners of the eyes. All three had super smooth textures and glide with zero tugging on the eyelid.
I was wearing Beige Mitzah A LOT for every day and as pigmented as this shade was, I felt like it blended in too much with my skin tone or maybe just didn't have enough sparkle to it. I think on someone with a lighter skin tone, this would look more dramatic, but on me it looked very casual. Still a great shade though!
Celestial Star is an interesting one because it's not really that pigmented, but if you look at the inner corners of my eyes, you can see this tiny hint of blue/purple sparkle. I also started using it in my Cupid's Bow for a little bit of "adventure" in my every day work makeup looks! I know, I'm so saucy 😏
I did not think I would be using Rosewood Tulle as much as I have been! I whipped this out as a fall eyeshadow shade and I have been using it as a base shadow with either Kulfi Zari Eyes in Sitara Sparkles or Victoria Beckham Beauty Lid Lustre Shimmer Eyeshadow Pot in Tea Rose and OMG do both shadows look absolutely stunning, but they do not budge or crease all day and stay extremely shimmery! I then line my lower lashline with Beige Mitzah and I'm done!
Final verdict: I like these, but not in the way that I was expecting. I was expecting to use these on their own as a one and done type eyeshadow stick like my Rare Beauty or Laura Mercier Caviar sticks, but as I am someone who really likes a lot of shimmer on my eyes (apparently), these have been amazing at making any potted eyeshadow shimmer last an intensely long time while still maintaining its look of freshness. These eyeshadow sticks blend pretty easily at the beginning so Rosewood Tulle has also been a great transition shade up in the browbone area for those Fall eye looks I've been wanting to do every day for the last 2 weeks. If they release more shades, I would definitely pick more up because they can be used as standalone shadows if you want a more casual look or to make powder shadows really POP!
