January 2013 Topbox Clinique Prive Box

We’ve all seen what the January Prive Box has to offer, but the consistent beauty box lover in me just HAS to make a post anyway! I didn’t know how to feel about the Prive Box because I didn’t think Topbox needed to change anything other than go back to the way they used to be before the lackluster products started making their way into our boxes back in the Fall, but if Prive means going back to deluxe sample sizes I fully support it!

Unfortunately, the products in the Clinique Prive Box were not that exciting for me as I’ve grown up with Clinique Bonus Time and I have tried all of these products at one point or another. It’s interesting how many other girls mentioned that Clinique made them nostalgic because I have the same feelings about Clinique as well! I suppose it is sort of an entry into department store makeup that doesn’t have insane price points. The products are fairly affordable even when I was a poor student. Doing this review, definitely took me down memory lane :-)

Clarifying LotionDSC_0032

Formulated to help left the world’s impurities to create healthier, younger skin.

Thoughts: This is for dry and combination skin and is a cleanser I found fairly pleasant overall in terms of having clean and hydrated-feeling skin.

Full size: 200mL/$16.00 or 400mL/$27.00

I received: 60mL/$4.05

Rinse Off Eye Makeup SolventDSC_0033

Make it a clean sweep, from lashes to brows. Or use for on the spot makeup fixes. Oil-free.

Thoughts: I remember this being a good eye makeup remover so I look forward to using it again!

Full size: 125mL/$25.00

I received: 60mL/$12.00

Color Surge Eye Shadow Duo in Like MinkDSC_0034

Go-together shades of silky, easy-to-blend colour in a chrome slide compact.

Thoughts: I already own a full size of this duo, but I’m sure I can find a home for it with a friend as it is a very neutral eye shadow set. I’ve always liked Clinique eye shadows, but I find their colours somewhat “safe” so once I got the palettes I wanted, I didn’t see the need to get any others.

Full size: 2.5g/$25.00

I received: 1.6g/$16.00

Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle and UV Damage CorrectorDSC_0036

A second chance for skin against sun damage and wrinkles. At 12 weeks the visible wrinkle-reducing power is remarkably close to a dermatological laser procedure. 63% to be exact.

Thoughts: Aha! A product I have yet to try! I don’t know if I will see any results as I’m not too sun-damaged or wrinkly yet!

Full size: 30mL/$57.00 or 50mL/$86.00

I received: 7mL/$12.04

Total Value of Clinique Prive Box: $44.09

Not a bad first Prive Box and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn’t tried/had some of the products beforehand. I wonder if I will be one of those that receive the Benefit Prive Box this month?

  1. Clinique really is nostalgic! I'd actually only tried the makeup remover before so I was pretty happy with this box.

I actually got my Feb box today. I hope you get yours soon!

  3. I like the idea of the Privé box, but not loving these products. Only because, like you, I own half of these products in full-size and have already tried the other half. I'm excited to see what future Privé brands will be. I saw there was a Benefit box floating around this month, that looked interesting :) x

    1. I mean, it's great that they have a waitlist so that they don't over promise, but I know how frustrating it can be.
