March 2013 “Metropolitan Chic” Glossybox

The theme for March was to celebrate the arrival of spring and and being armed with the right tools to prepare our beautiful selves for the warmer months to come. Out of the five products I received, I would say that maybe only two of them are what I would consider products I would use for warmer weather. Let’s have a closer look!

2013

ModelCo Cheek and Lip Tint in Rosy RedDSC_0071

Delivers the perfect amount of sheer colour for naturally flushed “just pinched” cheeks and a sexy pout.

Thoughts: Yes, I totally want a sexy pout! I am glad that we are now able to try a different type of makeup product from this Australian company. I will admit that I am deathly afraid of cheek tints because I always overdo it and can’t even blend away my mistakes! Based on the ModelCo website, this is supposed to provide just a natural flush so maybe I won’t be able to screw it up even if I tried!

Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow MoisturizerDSC_0072

While Natural Glow can help you achieve a skin tone that is one shade darker in just three days, it is also a rich, luxurious moisturizer that is suitable for all skin tones from fair to dark.

Thoughts: I am so Asian pasty yellow right now that this product couldn’t have arrived at a better time! I have tried this product in the past and found the application to be a bit uneven. This was about 5 years ago so it’s possible that Jergens has changed their formula to one that looks more natural.

L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Dark Spot Corrector SerumDSC_0073

Clinically proven, this luxurious, fast-absorbing serum fades dark spots and reveals even, luminous skin.

Thoughts: Yet another full size product and it is one that I have seen, but because I don’t have dark spots, am not sure if this is something that would be all that useful for me at this point in my life. I could always just use it as a serum I suppose?

Full size: 30mL/$29.99

Tresemme Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning TreatmentDSC_0074

TRESemme Platinum Strength reinforces hair’s naturally protective layer, restoring your hair’s beauty and protecting against further damage.

Thoughts: One more full size product, but one that I can actually use. I love deep conditioning treatments for my hair once a week so I will be interested to see how this makes my hair feel. I have yet to find a treatment that has really worked and made my hair feel amazing.

Full size: 177mL/$5.99

BM Beauty Platinum Tiara Eye ShadowDSC_0075

Beautifully rich colour in a sparkly grey shade.

Thoughts: This is a product that I don’t really associate with “getting prepared for warmer months”, but I guess I would associate with being metropolitan chic. It’s a pretty colour, but I don’t know how often I would really use it. I would feel too dressy all the time…

Full size: 2g/$10.80

I received: 1g/$5.40

Total Value of March Glossybox: $78.37

The March box was not bad, not one of my favourites, but I am excited to try the ModelCo Lip and Cheek tint which pays for the box already! Everything else is alright, but nothing too special. The full size products ARE drugstore products and it’s funny, but sometimes I’m okay with it and other times not so much. I’m okay with a mixture, just not all the time. The February Glossybox still remains my favourite though!

Have a great night everyone!

  1. I tried the Model Co cheek stain. LOL I put a dot on both my cheeks and then started tapping one side out and it looked good but when I got to the other side the dot had already 'stained' a little dot on my cheek. SO only do one side at a time! LOL I was like ah FFS and had to wipe the makeup off with a wipe and redo that side. I should have know. It is a stain after all. Live and learn right? BUt overall I was pretty okay with the box. The eyeshadow is actually really nice.

    1. Oh god, ok point taken! I won't be doing that!
I hope the eyeshadow looks ok on me...silver can be iffy on my skintone...

  2. You probably already know this but exfoliating before a tanner really makes any product go on smoothly. Also, try and use rubber gloves, like those doctos use, not those crapy thin things that come with hair dyes, you won't believe how much better results you will get : ) xx

    1. I'm scared that I will forget a spot and I will be white in just one area!
Yes, I remember someone telling me to scrub beforehand, but I did not know about the rubber gloves! Those are much better than the thin ones!

  3. Not a bad box overall - the Jergens is really nice, gives skin a natural glowy-bronze.

    1. That's good and as along as it's not streaky, then I'm ok with trying it out!

    1. You can always sign up again ;-) Maybe after you've settled in from your move and have a place for all of your samples again!
