SHEET MASK | Rodial Vit C Energising Face Mask #100DaysofSheetMasks

The Vitamin C craze is far from over and though I don't normally look to sheet masks for my daily dose (I prefer serums or treatments), I can't say no to a Vitamin C sheet mask! Or any sheet mask now really! I don't know when I became enamoured with Rodial, but it was probably in my early blogging days when I read a whackload of British beauty blogs and because Rodial is from London, it made sense that this brand was frequently featured. Once it made its way to Canada via Shoppers, the first thing I tried was the Dragon's Blood Mask and quite enjoyed it! Now, Rodial has a dedicated Vit C collection complete with an Energising Face Mask (I guess I will spell it the British way!) that promises to rejuvenate, illuminate with vitamin C, vitamin B3, hyaluronic acid and a mixture of amino acids. Mmmm, sounds delish!

Made in Korea, this is a biocellulose mask which is often the ultimate when it comes to hydration thanks to its unique skin-like material. There are varying thicknesses of biocellulose (thicker usually being more expensive because the bacterial fermentation process goes on for longer), but every single thickness I have tried fits like a glove on the face. You will never experience a "chin goatee" with material and I generally look forward to using biocellulose masks because they are pretty much foolproof!

I will be honest here and say that after glancing at the ingredients list, I didn't really pay much attention to the vitamin C aspect of the claims because this ingredient is almost the last ingredient in the list. Brightening ingredients higher on the list and within the first half of the list are niacinamide and glutathione which are probably the only things doing any brightening so that's kind of odd, considering this is part of a vitamin C collection. If you look at the list, there is actually a higher concentration of fragrance than magnesium ascorbyl phosphate!

Mask Summary:

Price: $20 each or $60/4 masks
Scent: Smells like nato jelly Asian dessert and what a lot of biocellulose is made from!
Essence Type: Orange in colour, gel-like and there is not a lot in the package so none left to spread around on arms and legs.
Duration: 15-20 min
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: Good
Tackiness: Low
Hydration: Good
Other notes: Does not last as long on face as other biocellulose masks because of the smaller amount of essence in pack so it really starts to feel a bit dry close to the end of the 20 minutes.

Final verdict: Despite there not being a whole lot vitamin C relative to the amount of fragrance and marketing on the package, this was a decent mask. My skin is always brighter and more hydrated after using biocellulose masks and my only real critique of this mask was that I wish there was more essence in the package. I used two masks and the first time I used it, I thought maybe the mask was old even though the expiry was 2020. The second mask I used had an expiry date of 2021 so I thought that for sure there would be more essence, but it was the same. The moment I pulled out the mask, there was virtually nothing left in the packet and parts of the mask would dry out after 15 minutes. I have a few more of these masks in my arsenal, but I much preferred the Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Mask and for the price I don't see myself choosing this mask over one from For Beloved One.

You can find the Rodial Vit C Energising Face Mask at Shoppers Drug Mart.
