I originally started off this Maelys review with "new to Shoppers Drug Mart", but in typical Jayne style, this month actually marks the 1 year anniversary of Maelys launching in Canada! Pronounced "my-lees", this is a body care brand with a sassy attitude when it comes to their products which is what caught my attention! I think we have all seen body sculpting/slimming products before, but what I found fun about Maelys was their concept of "Hey, it's OK if you just want to look hot just for you!" and a motto of "For the Love of Bod" which some might find sacriligious, but like I said, this brand caught my attention! 

All Maelys products are free of parabens, phthalates, and SLS and PETA certified and are said to be tested on panels of "real women of all shapes and sizes and levels of badass-ery". There are products for literally every part of the body from the B-FOXY Inner Thigh Firming Cream to the B-PERKY Lift and Firm Boob Mask! There are a couple of face products as well, but the body sculpting products are their specialty!  

I was sent the B-FLEX Lift & Firm Arm Cream, B-FLAT Firming Belly Cream and the B-TIGHT Booty Mask to try out and I will admit that I have mostly been enjoying these products for the sensorial aspect versus the slimming, smoothing and flattening effects. To see real results, you need to be diligent about applying these products to your skin every day for at least 2 months. I only recently restarted using these consistently so I will have to update you all in 40 days, but for now here are my initial thoughts on what I was sent!

B-FLEX Lift & Firm Arm Cream*

This cream is for the triceps or "bat wings" and features red algae, to tighten and smooth bumps, kangaroo paw flower extract (Anigozanthos Flavidus Extract), to hydrate and firm, and pink pepperslim extract (Schinus Terebinthifolius Seed Extract), that has been shown to have lipolytic activity meaning it kills fat cells. All in all, with two months of use, arms should have amore defined silhouette and defined shape. All of these featured ingredients are in the top of half of the list and interestingly enough, I don't see caffeine in the list which is typically what you see in "slimming products".

The colour of this cream is FUN and the scent is sweet in a very delicious way where you feel like you have been made a fizzy mocktail. With all three of these products, there will be a tingling or warming sensation shortly after application especially if you apply the creams right after you get out of the shower. Personally, I like the warming sensation, but if you don't know it's coming, it can be a bit alarming! The cream absorbs quickly and is hydrating. You will not need to apply another moisturizer on top unless you have VERY dry skin. 

B-FLAT Firming Belly Cream*

The before and after photos of people using this cream were pretty dramatic especially if you had stretch marks after just 40 days of use so I am curious as to whether I will see results. I know I should never trust the photos on a brand's website, but man were they still kind of crazy to look at! The cream focus on firming the skin in the belly with pink pepperslim extract, fading the appearance of stretch marks using avocado extract (contains Vitamin A that encourages collagen production) all while hydrating with shea and cocoa butter. On the Maelys website, this cream is recommended for postpartum moms and anyone embarking on a weight loss journey. For me, women often get softer in this lower belly area so I like the idea that this cream could be used to firm things up so that my shapewear doesn't have to work so hard as I wear a lot of pencil style skirts and dresses to work!

The scent of the belly cream is pleasantly fruity, absorbs quickly and does feel quite tingly on the skin. I barely felt anything my arms, but maybe because my belly is more sensitive I felt it more!

B-TIGHT Booty Mask*

Now, THIS was the product I was most interested in trying because I have always had a flat butt, but now that I am older, it's evident that my ass could use some help as it fights gravity and middle age. I'm not looking for a miracle, just a little bit of perkiness and more shape. I know that exercise is probably the thing that will help me the most, but let's just say that I will take a body cream any day at this point in my life though my mother just told me that now that I am in my 40s I really should start trying to exercise more. Also, even though this says "mask", this is a leave-on product.

This formula contains the smoothing pink pepperslim extract, guarana seed extract (acts a mild astringent and antioxidant) and hyaluronic acid to help with "plumpness". I noticed that this formula also contains, coffee bean extract and caffeine so some of that tightening we see might be due to these and will only be temporary if so.

As for the scent with this mask, it was still sweet, but much less so than with the previous two products. My butt also feels like it's on fire everytime I use it, but it is tolerable and disappears a couple of minutes after I use it. I kind of look forward to the feeling now because it feels like something is happening on my cheeks!

Final verdict: I am definitely curious about how my body will look now that I have committed to using these products. I am also interested in trying more from Maelys especially their Overnight Toning Whip that has melatonin and valerian root for extra dreamy sleep! Ideally, these products should be applied twice a day and you can see that there is 30mL of product in each container so it can get expensive...personally I have never been great at committing to using this type of product because I tend to want to use ONE body moisturizer for everywhere instead different products for different parts. This Maelys routine is for someone who is committed to firming and toning their skin and is ok with having a multi-step bodycare routine. I mean, I have a multi-step face routine so why should this be any different? 

I like the ingredients that are being used and the fact that the featured ingredients are in the top half of the ingredients list. I also like that caffeine isn't heavily used in the formulations and I really liked the scent and textures of the products I was sent so I would imagine that the other products would smell and feel just as pleasant!
